Our second visit to this lovely hotel and we were not disappointed. It’s a special place to stay whether you want to walk, cycle or just drive around the glorious countryside surrounding it. Comfortable rooms, very attentive and friendly staff, great food and beautiful gardens. What more could you want?

Lovely relaxing weekend. We stayed in the Elephant house and really appreciated its own little garden with its outside table and chairs. Very comfortable bed with beautiful view of the roof tops and hills to enjoy in the mornings. We had some difficulties getting BBC1 on TV and it said on the screen there were connection issues (?) which we reported, but this maybe IT issue and we didn’t want to fiddle and it did not detract from a wonderful stay. The Elephant House has its own dedicated parking just outside the door and this, for us, is an added bonus for to book the Elephant House as my husband is waiting for knee operation and the car park can get very full. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent. The staff here are so lovely and make you feel very welcome. Highly recommended and we will be back!

We were stopping in the lovely village for one night. We've been here before, but not for many years. Although we didn't stay at the Castle Hotel we wished we had, as the dining experience was first class. The food was superb, the restaurant beautiful and the service second to none. It was the last night of our trip, and we were pleased to finish in such great style. All three courses for both of us were better than expected bearing in mind the reasonable price, and presented with some style. Kudos to the chef!

Just spent four nights at this beautiful hotel….excellent food, wonderful staff, the best garden with a view that takes your breath away…we stayed in the Courtyard room with our own small private patio….so comfortable and relaxing….no stairs, massive bed and all the little extras that show such a lot of thought has been given to make your stay perfect..we will certainly be back!

Delighted to have chosen The Castle Hotel for a short trip to the Shropshire Hills. This has instantly become one of my favourite pub hotels. A classy place with a great location atop the attractive little town of Bishops Castle with characterful bars, beautiful rooms, largely good food , and well-trained staff. We'd stay here again - and we totally recommend booking direct for the best deal. Bishops Castle is on the edge of the Shropshire Hills, but it still offers some good walks in rolling countryside. Downside? Food demands are high in peak season, with all thet entails, and not entirely sure about the quality of the pillows. But small gripes in a place easy to recommend with confidence.

We very much enjoyed our two-night stay in this nice hotel. We especially loved the views from the hotel, the beautiful garden, the lovely small market town of Bishops Castle itself (the hotel is well situated) and the staff, who were all extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are particularly good, but the food in general is pretty good (we ate two dinners there). The service at meals is excellent. The rooms are all quiet as there is no traffic to speak of; instead you hear the sound of birds!!

We had lunch here after exploring the little town of Bishop’s Castle. It was a good choice as the menu was varied, food delicious and staff were very friendly and helpful. Two of us are vegetarians and there was plenty of choice for us. Lovely gardens too.

It’s been a while since I last visited the Castle Hotel for dinner and drinks. What a great experience. Excellent food. Very good range of real ales. Friendly and helpful staff. And a beer that is simply fabulous on a sunny evening. Very impressed by all aspects of my experience and strongly recommended for anyone visiting Bishop’s Castle.

An amazing hotel. Very welcoming and an extremely high standard of accommodation. Bedrooms clean and bright. Staff most helpful and friendly. One of the best hotels in the UK we have had the pleasure of visiting. We shall certainly return if we are in the area again
