Fantastic location right in the centre of Devizes. On entrance no offer to carry bags upstairs and no lift available. Room was quirky with great character but the great view the receptionist commented on at check in was directly into room 14!!!! Not quite what we were expecting so curtains remained closed all weekend. We did not eat here as all a bit pricey and poncy. Fab restaurants in and around the square. Room was comfortable enough and shower was lovely even if the controls were at the other end of the shower and you got wet just turning it on. Suited our needs for 2 nights just a shame no room service for food when classed as a hotel.

Disappointed after reading such positive reviews. £185 for room 1 was expensive. It’s a double room with a small bathroom and small windows you couldn’t see out of. We appreciate that this is a very old building but the noise of creaking floor boards, banging, general noise from conversations and/or TV or radio from before 6am meant a very early awakening. We came for a wedding and Tara was really accommodating in getting an early check in to our room to get ready. The staff were all lovely and very accommodating. All things considered would I stay here again or recommend, not sure I would to be honest and definitely not room 1.

Amazing stay yet again at The Peppermill…. Room was superb, spacious and had everything we needed. Huge bath room with full size stand alone bath and separate rainfall shower. Tea and coffee making facilities provided as is a small fridge and a safe. The evening meal was great , can highly recommend the burger and steaks! .staff are lovely , very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Great cocktail bar as well. This is a fantastic boutique Hotel which is situated in the heart of Devizes, a lovely market town with plenty to see and do. Short walk from the canal and locks.

We have stayed at the Peppermill Hotel in Devizes several times and it never disappoints. What makes this hotel special is that each room has its own unique character and appeal. The owners have invested so much love and care in the design and beautiful soft furnishings. The restaurant is fabulous and they have an excellent wine list. Perfectly situated in the heart of Devizes across from the market place, it’s a real gem. The staff are really friendly and invested in making your stay/ dining experience a great one. Thank you

We stayed for two nights while walking in the area with some friends. Rooms were great, spacious and the air conditioning was very welcome. Spotlessly clean and bed comfortable. The snugs and sitting rooms were a nice touch as was the fresh milk in the fridge in the snug (although something to convey a small amount back to your room would have been nice). Friendly welcome. They were happy to store my husband’s bike safely. The breakfast was lovely, yoghurts, cereals, fresh fruit and nice service and a good choice of cooked options. We did eat in the restaurant and I have reviewed that separately as it wasn’t such a good experience. Would definitely stay here again if we were in the area, just not sure we would eat there in the evening. Only niggle would be that they charged my credit card when we checked in….booking confirmation said payment due at checkout, and as we were two couples we wanted to pay separately but weren’t given the choice. Not a big issue though.

Spotless rooms (6 and 16), great dinner on Saturday night and breakfast on Sunday morning. Friendly staff from reception to the dining room. We have previosly stayed at the The Bear Hotel for our annual family re-union but will definately stay here in the future.

Travelling on business. Beautiful venue, rooms are spotless. Lovely comfy bed, fab bathroom. Breakfast is great. Evening meals are amazing. The staff are so helpful and friendly, nothing is too much to ask. The weather was sub zero and the rooms were so toasty. Would love to visit again! Thankyou

Arrived, checked-in… room was.lovely- but very cold.. switched on the radiator and went out.. back in at midnight to find the room still freezing cold… no heating whatsoever… nice!! Worst nights sleep I’ve had for years- just right for a business meeting! Complained in the morning- as the heating came on around 7am… too late by then… reception offered the check it out… as I was checking out.. really?!?! No draught lager and not that great a service in the restaurant… food was amazing though- maybe get the Chef to manage the heating then! Remember to take your thermals and a hot water bottle… took me all day to warm up- hyperthermia anyone?!? Awful .. truly awful- there was two on us in two rooms… both felt the same way, painful with how much it cost … oh dear!
