The Floating Forest

We loved our days at the Floating Forest. Our only regret was that we didn’t book longer. The Burl cabin was decorated with gorgeous art pieces and surrounded with natural beauty including the gardens, wallabies and fairy wrens. We instantly felt at home. The property was better than an average stay with all of the little touches that added to the luxurious feel and experience. We would love to come back.

(**4.5 Stars**) A wonderful find in a wonderful part of Western Australia. The Floating Forest is evocative of something out of a storybook: the cottages sit on beautiful grounds full of birds, kangaroos and flowers. During the day, the views are lovely, and at night, the open canopy allows for some of the best stargazing I've ever experienced. Inside, the cabins are charming and befitting for the scenery where they are. Well considered and well equipped. Great kitchen, plush bed, smart tv, and a gorgeous bathroom with lovely toiletries. We appreciated the stocked coffee, which we enjoyed each morning on our patio, and the welcome wine and local provisions. We also appreciated the helpful directions and notification that we could arrive early... the directions were helpful because, while we didn't take advantage of the early check-in, we did arrive after dark, and the extra care there was considerate. What didn't make this a full-five stars, on the other hand, was the checkout. Having been on the road for three weeks, which involved city, rainforest, liveaboard dive boats, and a wedding in Perth, and being near the tail-end of our trip, we needed a bit more time to get ourselves sorted. We were packing up our car at 10:am (checkout time), making a few trips back and forth inside. I received a text at 10:09 reminding me of the checkout time, and at 10:15, as we were closing up the car, someone drove by and asked if we were "out", because "it's 10:15, so..." This seemed a bit excessive, as the person saw us loading up, presumably when she sent the text, and proceeded to say something when we were clearly leaving. Having worked in hotels, I do see the need to turnover a room for the next guests, however, there are more graceful ways to approach this, and a 15 minute period is hardly an egregious overrun. The scolding (albeit soft) was strange, but would not discourage us from staying here again, or recommending it to others.

We had a wonderful holiday at the Floating Forest. We stayed in Karri Studio - chalet, which was absolutely delightful: very clean, tastefully furnished and comfortable, with everything that we needed. It is surrounded by lush green lawns dotted with beautiful birds, and the towering trees of nearby forests which are full of beautiful birdsong. There are lovely distant sea views. There are lovely walks and drives in the area, and it is very close to the town centre. It was so tranquil, we loved our stay there and we recommend it very highly.

A truly amazing place to stay! Such a beautiful cabin with so many thoughtful and homely touches. Very clean, well equipped and is close to town! Wouldn’t stay anywhere else. Definitely will be returning in the near future and staying for longer too.

We had the pleasure of staying in the wood cabin for 3 nights and could not fault a thing. Cleanliness, amenities, beautiful comfortable furniture, hand written notes, quirky little touches. Good quality and comfortable bedding and towels. We are planning a trip back in winter so we can use the wood fire. It was lovely spending time on the balcony watching the birds and kangaroos and wildlife whilst barbecuing. Very close to town and a well looked after and maintained property. Kitchen was well equipped and beautiful glassware. Fresh herbs from the garden were a nice touch. Gorgeous views from all the windows and it was lovely lying in bed in the morning watching the birds hopping about the balcony. Nice romantic spot for couples or if just want some peace and quiet in nature. We would highly recommend. Only suggestion I would have is a hammock on the balcony for lounging and bird watching.

Amazing place, great getaway, stayed in the Karri chalet, very well equipped, clean and comfortable, nice little touches here and there. Great to sit on the balcony in the evening and watch all the different birds and in the morning the kangaroos. Would be cosy in the winter with the crackling log fire going
