On the Deck @ Shark Bay

We stayed at On the deck for three nights and we were do glad we did. Our hosts Phil and Kerrie were so welcoming and helpful. Our accvomodation was just as we hoped for if noit evebn better!! On The Deck is as it implies the accomodation is all on the first floor and as it is located on the edge of town you get the most stunning views of the outback , amazing sunsets and best of all at dusk the kangartoos and emus eerge from the scrub for their carrot treats Phil provides. Breakfast provisons are varied and all you need and of course the full outdoor kitchen is amazing! If you choose to make Denham a stop you have to travel a long way to it and back but, the seaside is wonderful and staying at On The Deck was absolutley worth the visit!!

This was a great place to stay. The position superb to visit and explore the Shark Bay Area. The facilities could not have been better and the experience of watching local wildlife whilst preparing or eating supper or relaxing in the hot tub is hard to match. Phil and Kerrie are excellent hosts - very knowledgeable about the area, keen to help and great company.

Everything about On The Deck @ Sharks Bay was excellent. Our accommodation was spacious, extremely clean and comfortable. It came with a superlative outside under cover totally equipped kitchen and eating area featuring dishwasher, BBQ, fridge etc. To describe Phil and Kerrie as the perfect hosts is no exaggeration. We were invited to join them for sunset drinks while also enjoying the antics of the kangaroos and emus who descended for their dusk dining experience. A highlight for us was a day's off roading through the national park in Phil's Wrangler Jeep. So cool! A highly recommended adventure.

Great service from the moment we arrived – with advice on the area and things to do, suggestions for where to eat and the host, Phil, then making a dinner booking for us. The room was very comfortable and the views from the deck are great. They include breakfast – we just went with the continental option – cereal, juice, toast and fruit - but if you wish they will provide you with bacon, sausage, eggs to cook on the BBQ. The only negative I would mention is that we were woken rather early one morning when another couple cooked their breakfast very early on the BBQ just outside our room (the yellow room).

We had booked 2 nights at this accommodation , in the downstairs room and arrived evening. As we returned from dinner, the bathroom had cockroaches and then we saw loads on the kitchen surface and all over our toiletries. We had to call the owners even though it was late and she sprayed the surface with some insecticide . Unfortunately we had to sleep there that night as we it was too late to book anywhere but we kept all lights open to stop the roaches creeping on our bed. Next day we had to book elsewhere and leave as it spoilt our stay and wasted our time to go to Francois Perron National Park. The owners said they cleaned the room but cockroaches come out at night. We had no problem anywhere else in WA .It was a shame we had to look for another accommodation and pay a high price last minute .

On the Deck @ Shark Bay provides splendid accommodation! We enjoyed three nights in the 'blue room' which was spacious, comfortable, immaculate and very peaceful with a private balcony. Phil and Kerrie are wonderful hosts - so welcoming and kind. Phil was very helpful assisting us with our scheduled trips out and with restaurant recommendations - nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast provisions were extensive and very generous. We really appreciated the routine of ordering provisions the day before and being able to prepare them in our own time - there is a full outdoor kitchen in which to do so. Keen walkers we found the location of the property perfect for a short walk into town in the evenings - we dined two nights at The Old Pearler (not to be missed it's great!). Roos regularly come down in the evening for snacks at sunset - just magical. We loved the sense of community in Shark Bay - everyone was so lovely and friendly. All in all a wonderful trip - a big thank you to Phil and Kerrie for making it so.
