Everything about the place was excellent, from the decor when you arrive, ambience, food, drinks, service and value. Cannot fault it.

Excellent food and ambience with mostly excellent staff. Would have been five stars if the male server had remembered the pie of the day and got the bill correct.

We chanced upon this pub on a walk from another hotel. We had a drink there and returned for a meal the next night. Food was excellent and staff outstanding. They were friendly snd efficient and went the extra mile to help us out. Highly recommended.

A very good stay
Lovely village pub in a beautiful spot. Evening meal was a high standard. Rooms were quite small but very nice. Common parts would benefit from a refresh

Sneaky Midweek Break
This is our second trip in six months to the Red Lion and we fully intend to book again. We stayed in the Napoleon room as we did on our previous trip. The only reason that I could not give an excellent review on every point was that I did not check the breakfast box in arrival only to find out the following morning that it was incomplete and only set for one guest which was disappointing when we had a big day ahead of us. However the manager was very apologetic when we told him that evening and it was a genuine miscommunication between the management and housekeeping. I am sure it would not happen as a norm. The restaurant was fabulous on both evenings and for an out of the way pub it was really busy on both evenings. I can absolutely recommend the Calves Liver….. absolutely delicious.

Met up for a get together of former racing and rallying friends a group of 20 of us. We pre ordered from the festive menu and all the food came out on time so we all ate together. The food was superb and came away fully fed and happy. The portion sizes were also very good and all enjoyed it.

On what would have been my Father’s 90th birthday I took my Mother to the Red Lion as this is a pub they used to visit whilst dating and when they were first married. The superb food was not matched by the service which at times was aloof. If you can forgive the service, the food was amazing. Between us we had soup (not photographed), ham terrine and bread and olives to start and beef Sunday lunch (x2) and the salmon from the specials board. Dessert was affogato, white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake and two scopes of ice cream (not photographed). The South African white was very good. As a result of the service, the money off vouchers we were given for our next visit won’t be used.
