Orchard Hideaways

Having stayed here before back in 2019 I can honestly say this place is great. Perfect place to stay for either a relaxing break or hiking trip. We decided to come here for a bit of a break and we loved it. We arrived about an hour and a half too early for check in but this wasn't a problem as the owner very kindly gave us a free pass at a local soft play for our toddler to pass some time. The pod itself was very clean and spacious. Has a fridge, microwave, kettle and plates/cutlery. The outside temperature dropped to around -6 degrees one night but our pod was kept lovely and warm inside by the radiator. The shower/toilet block was again very clean and no issues with this. Although we didn't use it, the hot tub/shack area looks great value for money especially for larger parties. 100% would stay here for a third time!

We had been let down on our planned accommodation and so needed to book the day of our stay. Despite this Orchard Hideaways still managed to help with bedding and even a bbq. The facilities were Very clean and plentiful and our pod was great. Would highly recommend a stay.

Small but comfortable pods and a great place from which to explore the area. Well equipped with microwave, kettle, fridge and even a TV. We all got a good night’s sleep. 3 families stayed here together and we appreciated the outside space where the children could play happily (shame the play area was across a road, albeit a quiet one). We weren’t lucky with the weather but made use of the covered area with a smart speaker and heaters. Showers were great but could have done with being cleaned more often during the weekend. We booked the Sizzle shack- barbecue was great but was far too smoky for us to sit in the hut. We would have liked to have used the chill out area but it was booked by people from off-site during our stay. Overall I’d recommend.

We booked for one night on our way back from the Scottish Highlands back to Manchester. One night was not enough! The huts are really comfortable and cosy with fantastic facilities. The outside space is outstanding. We used the sizzle shack which would have been a bit more fun on a cooler day, but was still excellent Highly recommend this wonderful place

We booked the Chill Out for five hours. Very pleasant experience, had a great night. Sauna, hot tub, TV and projector all worked great. Only complaint is that the chap who showed us around seemed a bit confrontational and slightly rude. Saying this like “I don’t want to have to come back here” and saying “you alright pal” in a harsh tone when my friend walked over to listen. I understand that when you see a group of lads you assume the worst, but just felt a bit put out, especially since we were paying customers. Not exactly a pleasant welcome. Other than that, great experience

Really disappointed with the customer service...do not book here through ***********.Booked a night and was cancelled then a week later money was taken from account.Unable to go and tried to contact the company on several occasions.Never answer the phone!!!will not refund or even offer an alternative date to stay.Terrible way to treat paying customers through no mistake of their own.Do not book here.

Pod very clean. We had a pod with enclosed garden, perfect for the dogs. Mattresses were very comfortable. There was even a TV. Toilets, showers clean.

Our first two nights here were lovely, the hut was just as we'd hoped and we had a relaxing evening in the chill out zone. Unfortunately on the Saturday night the chill out zone had been rented to a large party of locals who were not staying on site, who had also hired a band with their own sound system. We are a young couple ourselves and would not normally mind something like this, but we were the closest hut at approx 20m from the party (see photos) and the noise was unbearable . Two different groups from further up the site also commented to us on how they were unable to sleep, one being a mum of young children that was close to tears. The site's host Andy informed me during the party that "The quiet hours are from 11pm so there's not much that can be done until then", however the party went on into the early hours until Andy came and taxied them home himself. We were refunded for this night of our stay (after chasing the payment over a month on), however it did not make up for the lack of sleep and frustration of the night. The site is beautiful and has potential for a relaxing stay, however given that it is advertised as 'the perfect rural retreat', we felt the need to explain it is in fact also rented out for parties that are not staying on site with the option to bring bands/sound systems.

Second visit to orchard hideaways. I was fairly disappointed this visit as there was no one else staying at this site so felt a little unusual and uncomfortable. The mattresses were also very uncomfortable in the smaller pod so are perhaps ready for replacing. There was also more noise from the road this time round so would recommend one of the larger pods at the back of the site. You get relentless messages and texts before, during and after your stay. I left a night early due to been the only ones there and the uncomfortable mattresses and still got asked if I wanted late check out! All for an extra cost - obviously! Having said that the site itself is in a handy location to explore the lakes and Penrith area. The washing area and toilet facilities are really good and kept exceptionally clean for this type of accommodation. The accommodation is dog friendly with lots of space. Most pods come with a fridge, table, washing up equipment and outside facilities such as bbq area and table. Would recommend if you get a good deal on the price!
