I specifically paid extra to book a room with a balcony because that was one of the features I was looking forward to. However, upon check-in, I was informed that I had been automatically upgraded to a Premium Suite. While I appreciated the gesture, the suite didn’t have a balcony and was much larger than what I needed as a solo traveler. I would have preferred to keep my original room, but I was told it was no longer available as it had already been assigned to other guests.
Unfortunately, what seemed like an upgrade turned out to be quite disappointing. The room layout was rather odd, with the wash basin located directly behind the bed. Throughout the stay, I could hear water flowing through the ceiling pipes, which became quite noticeable, especially at night. There were also no power outlets beside the bed, making it inconvenient to charge my phone or other devices.
The biggest issue, however, was the cleanliness. There were ants everywhere! On the table, the floor, and even on the bed. The bed frame and flooring also looked dusty and not very well maintained, which made the room feel unclean.
If you’re a light sleeper, be aware that the room isn’t ideal. Even with all the lights turned off, light still came through the window behind the bathroom, and in the morning I could hear music from the neighborhood, making it difficult to get a good night’s rest.
Overall, despite the hotel’s attractive exterior and the staff’s kind intention to upgrade my room, my two-night stay was unfortunately quite unpleasant.
