The Grange at Oborne

We stayed 3 nights at the hotel. It is nice and clean. Highly recommended in sherbrone. Only down side poor network reception in the area.

Wonderfully comfortable and decorated. Staff welcoming and so helpful. We were made to feel like we were at home away from home. Everything is well thought through and there is an obvious focus to making guests feel quietly indulged. Plus there is a very friendly cat to make you feel loved and welcome.

Perfect place to stay in the British countryside. Beautiful and very cozy place with a great attention to detail, almost feels like home ! Very nice people (and lovely cat :) ). The hotel has a very nice restaurant as well, which is very convinient with great food.

Lovely country hotel in a pretty village in easy reach of Sherborne. Family run, cosy and welcoming. Excellent breakfast and helpful friendly staff. Loved the selection of wellington boots to suit all sizes and aged. Our second visit and we will be back!

This was our third visit to The Grange and this time we decided to stay for a week and have it as our base to explore Sherborne and Dorset. There were plenty of lovely and interesting places to explore and returning to the Grange each evening, only added to our enjoyment. You won’t be disappointed! Without exception, the staff are consistently friendly, helpful, obliging and professional in their roles. Whatever food you choose will be absolutely delicious. You’ll find the bedrooms both comfortable and smart, whilst the ambience generally around the hotel is very relaxing, with items for you to borrow or take if you happen to have forgotten anything! This is one of our favourite places to stay, because it isn’t really like staying in a hotel, but like visiting friends who just happen to live in a very big house!! We thoroughly recommend The Grange!

We stayed for six nights on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis and given the quality of the food this proved to be excellent value. The room was spacious and comfortable. All the staff we encountered were extremely pleasant and went out of their way to provide excellent service. On the first night I asked if it would be possible to order the sea bass without the accompanying shellfish sauce (on account of an allergy to crab!) Within minutes I was told that the chef could make an alternative herb-based sauce...and it was delicious! We particularly liked the way the items on the breakfast buffet were put into individual pots, thus avoiding the unhygienic communal handling of jugs and spoons. A bonus was the company, in the bar, of Neptune...a large and decidedly smug tabby cat! A most enjoyable stay, thank you all.

The fact that this is an independent, family-run hotel shines through at every level. The building is full of character with well appointed and comfortable rooms, lounge-bar and restaurant, with friendly and efficient staff. An excellent 3 course dinner and one of the best breakfasts, with FRESH fruit juices, FRESH fruit salad. Highly recommended !

This small Country House Hotel is a wonderful experience. Food, service, bedrooms, staff, cleanliness, everything is first class. We will definitely go again. ( the breakfast alone is worth the stay ! And the fillet of beef is the best I’ve ever tasted).

Last stayed here 16 years ago for my wife’s birthday and it was fantastic, decided to come back for our 20th Anniversary and it was every bit as good as our previous stay. Large clean room, huge bed, all the amenities we could want. We had the Dinner Bed and Breakfast package and both dinner and breakfast were superb, lovely attentive staff and the restaurant, longe and bar are great. The location island building is beautiful , out in the country just a few miles from Sherborne, so peaceful and relaxing. We will definitely consider this hotel again for any future special occasions.
