Best Western Shaftesbury the Royal Chase Hotel

Booked a ground floor non smoking room from for a family reunion. Whilst the room is spacious enough, there were issues during the night. At 3am my wife went to the bathroom to find the floor completely flooded with water appearing to come from the base of the toilet and sink. The main carpet had signs of stains which may have been water damage. In the morning we had used the shower mat and the hand towels to mop up the water When we checked out and mentioned the flooding, front desk semmed dismissive and said they would raise it with house keeping. My family have used the Royal Chase many times over the years, with a cousin having their wedding reception there. I would not recommend the Royal Chase as somewhere to stay unless you can secure a 1st floor room. In addition, the wifi was slower than the cellular service

The room was clean and had a good supply of coffee and tea, with biscuits provided. Pool facility and sauna was clean and a nice addition to end a day of travelling. Staff were lovely and helpful, food was a good standard, would recommend the vegetarian breakfast. Room area was quite so had a good nights sleep for the 4 nights I stayed. Plenty of free parking at this hotel.

Lovely helpful staff. The room on 1st floor is quietand pleasant.. But on what planet does taking out the room phone seem like a good idea. There is no way to contact the reception, no way to ring room service although there is a room service menu. What an exceptionally silly idea ??

It’s an ideally placed location with beautiful surroundings. Staff are great, food is average but ok priced. Downsides - no fridge, noisy with standard door mechanisms that need the door slammed to close (not great at 6am), poor lighting in the bathroom (makeup application impossible), and hot - no air on.

The food wasn't great the wine was warm. The room needs updating and the mattress definitely needs fumigating. Out of all the staff there at the hotel there was only one helpful member. I've never been so disappointed and it has put us off going away.

Couldn't turn the heating down so you could get heat stroke or scold yourself.The shower was extremely high pressure and painful and either boiling or freezing. The cook breakfast was very small and the black pudding was extremely peppery, but the cleaners were lovely and we were putting a separate room to have our breakfast because of all the noise which was very nice. And the artwork on the walls was depicted of the history of the building which was a lovely touch

Our room was spacious and clean if a teeny bit tired eg peeling wallpaper. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. The pool is small but nice.

Stayed here for a friends wedding. Friday and Saturday night was £285 including breakfast for 2 people. I felt the hotel would be better priced at £100 a night (including breakfast). Everything is clean, but it’s very dated and gives care home vibes rather than £140 a night vibes. Walls are paper thin, can hear people doing their bathroom business in the adjacent rooms so bring some earplugs!

Very pleasant hotel with nice staff. The room was far too hot due to the fact the heating was running 24 hours a day in May
