Cowbridge Cabins

These cabins are in a good location and lovely setting. Overall, clean and tidy and in a good state of repair. Nicely decorated and furnished, decent sized bedroom. Bathroom small but functional, although in need of improvement (toilet seat was not correct shape / size for the pan and a shelf / basket in shower to place your toiletries would be useful). There's potential for this place to be great but very poorly run. Communication is terrible. I have tried to contact the owners a number of times and not had a response, which is very disappointing. There were many aspects of our stay that fell below our expectations and based on this alone we would not return nor recommend. Essentially, these cabins seem to operate more like an Air B&B than a traditional B&B accommodation. I had not realised this at the time of booking, nor that those on hand to assist during your stay were farmers that were early to rise and early to bed. I knew we would probably not arrive until around 8 / 9 pm as I was travelling a long way. I messaged to advise them of this and check that it would be ok, asking what the latest check in time would be. I got no response. We tried to call on the way to Wales too and got no answer. Traffic was worse than anticipated so we arrived in Cowbridge after 9 pm, in the dark and rain. Sat Nav did not take us to the cabins and we were a bit lost, so had to call again. After trying three phone numbers, we finally managed to speak to someone. They gave us directions and advised that the Sat Nav directions are wrong - it would have been a lot more helpful if we had been told this before! Perhaps we would have arrived a bit earlier? We were asked if we had a code, which we did not and had not been provided with. It became apparent that entry to the cabins is via a keypad. We should have been given the number in advance. Had we arrived any later, we may well have not been able to get into our cabin. We had booked the Sycamore Cabin which the website said 'slept 4'. There was also a photo of a single bed, with a second pull out mattress. We booked for '3' but on arrival, there was just one double bed made up and no other beds. There was a small sofa that could be pulled out into a bed, but this would only be suitable for small children (that don't mind sharing a bed!), not to mention in need of a good hoover. We were extremely disappointed to arrive after a 7 hour journey to find just the double. Although bedding was provided in a cupboard, I really did not expect to have to make a bed up after having booked for 3. I questioned this the next day and was told that I needed to ask in advance, apparently simply booking for more than 2 people is not adequate. I was even told it was 'not The Marriott'. We tend not to watch the telly when away on a break. However, we do enjoy watching the Euros and planned to watch some of the matches. This is a great little place with limited services. Cabin room is clean, basic, and modern. It did have a mini fridge. There is a path downhill to the underpass, where you can walk about 10 minutes to the center of town. Easy enough for those with normal mobility. Hard to find with GPS - the key here is, it is NOT on the roundabout that is the primary exit to the Cowbridge high street, rather, it is the PRIOR roundabout immediately to the west where you must exit and drive through a sort of golf course looking environment, past the Forage farm shop and kitchen. Not well sign marked at all. Once there it is real easy, and you enter by code which you receive in email. Cowbridge has limited options for loading in town - this makes a good value option if you don't need a lot of attention.

Anonymous and poorly equipped wooden cabin located in a farm shop/ restaurant adjacent to the A48.. Entry by keypad ( number sent in advance). Did not see anyone from the establishment for our entire 5 night stay. It would have been nice to have had an information pack with Wi-Fi info and route into town rather than just a list of numbers to call in case of a problem. Room was sparse with just a bed, a small dressing table and a fridge with a kettle and mugs. . Nowhere to sit except the bed. Nowhere to hang clothes, not even a coat hook. No drawers. Tea making facilities consisted of 6 milk pods and 4 teabags. Not replenished during stay. Toiletries consisted of 1 miniature shower gel and shampoo. Not even any hand soap. Shower room was dirty , cobwebs, grime, dead flies. No hairdryer. No glasses. Travelodge is better equipped! Farm shop café unwelcoming. No breakfast without a reservation. Did not want to use the takeaway as we would have had to take it back to the cabin and sit on the bed, fortunately a Costa in town which was friendly and welcoming.

Booked for one night to attend a friend’s daughter baby shower in the area. As we had a personal family issue I sent a message to say we could make it. The telephone number advertised went through to the farm office hence the message The establishment did not even bother to respond to the message. No doubt because they didn’t want to refund my money Surely a simple message is not too much to ask.
