Coundon Lodge Coventry

I do a bit of work in Coventry and was looking for a reliable hotel to stay at when I stumbled across this little gem Really good location good safe parking Steeped in history with a really good feel to the lodge Regina and Brian are really fantastic hosts, with a very good outlook on life in general and very trusting ( perhaps a little too much ) The lodge is being renovated but is still very nice and extremely good value Beds are very comfy rooms are warm Self serve continental breakfast available , eggs yoghurt toast muffins fresh fruit pain au chocolat Really worth a visit very close to Stratford on Avon for a sightseeing trip Cracking food pub ( the nugget) within 600 yds ( 10 min walk ) selling real ales and good food As per VFM Coundon lodge is very very good 5⭐️

This is not really a hotel. I booked a single room without an en-suite, and the bathroom is down the corridor. It used to be a retirement home, and now it feels like a sort of retreat venue. There is no bar or restaurant as such, and breakfast is continental style but very well stocked with huge variety and quality options (gut bacteria yoghurt drinks, fruit, various breads and cereals etc - I was surprised by the range). There are kitchen facilities, and you put your cutlery and crockery in the dishwasher yourself. I found the host to be friendly and I really enjoyed my stay. The location and views are lovely, and the house is quirky, peaceful and I liked it a lot. You have to get into the right mindset. It is not a hotel, it is well priced,everything is there for you with a little effort. When I think about what I received for £50 or so it's remarkable. Great value and I will return.

We needed a place for our daughter to stay the night after graduation from Warwick, and this was perfect. Very reasonably priced and a beautiful setting on the edge of the city. A friendly welcome and an absolutely safe environment for a young female solo traveller. Recommended.

Me and my sister needed a cheap place to stay for the night in Coventry and saw the reviews on Coundon Lodge were very promising. We booked a room with an on suite for £60 a night. Upon arrival, the house was beautiful and the scenery even more so. Once inside the property, the host was on a phone call which she seemed to be annoyed was interrupted. She started leading us to the wrong room before asking who we were, assuming we were different guests. Once she had looked through her bookings, she managed to take us to our right room - Number 1. As soon as we entered the room, there was an instant musty smell that you could not ignore. The host was certainly tentative however was rushing around the room, picking up empty coffee containers, flushing the toilet and turning radiators on which I would of assumed would have been done before our arrival. Bearing in mind, the room should have been ready at 4pm and we had arrived at 6pm. She did mention that she did not clean the room herself and she was checking that her staff had done an adequate job. The host then questioned why we did not let her know that we were on our way, which confused both me and my sister why this would have been relevant. Once the host eventually left the room, we had a look around, there was cobwebs on the light fixtures, on the walls, the windows. We had tried to mask the musty smell with room spray, perfume and even made cups of coffee in the hope that this would mask the smell however it did not. The bathroom was tasteful and clean however. We turned the TV on and the only channels available were either BBC News or adult messaging forums. We then had a look around the rest of the house were there was wallpaper falling off of the walls, holes in the carpets, dusty surfaces, left over food left on the kitchen counter. We ended up spending only a few hours at this property before leaving as the smell in the room was unbearable. We could not figure out where it was coming from but our best guess was that it was the walls which, after reading a review of a gentleman who stayed in room Number 1, I think we were correct. He mentioned that the roof was leaking and this was a common occurrence according to the host. So essentially, the smell was damp from the roof/walls... Unfortunately, our stay was not pleasant and I cannot recommend Coundon Lodge as I would wish to. There is a lot of work still to be done on this property and until then, we won't be returning.

Beautiful grounds with great views. Warm welcome from the host and a lovely clean bright room with a super comfortable bed. An added bonus is the well equipped kitchen facilities. This is excellent value quality accommodation close to Coventry city centre and also within easy driving to the Cotswolds and Stratford upon Avon. There is some renovation going on but it did not disturb us and all the guest areas including the large lounge, dining room and bathroom were lovely. Once fully renovated I’m sure prices will rise so stay now and you and your pocket won’t be disappointed!

Lovely BnB, had everything we needed and the location was great for getting to both the arena and the centre. Host was great, very helpful and the scenery is beautiful. Great value for money, would recommend for anyone looking for somewhere to stay after a concert.
