Hôtel de la Plage

Albergo meraviglioso. Personale amichevole. Abbiamo soggiornato all'hotel e siamo rimasti piacevolmente sorpresi. Praticamente era sulla spiaggia. La camera era pulita. Siamo al ristorante ed è stato meraviglioso. Il server è stato molto gentile e ben informato. Ha scelto il vino perfetto. Ritorneremo sicuramente.

Abbiamo dovuto trascorrere una notte, non programmata, a Courseulles-sur-Mer a causa di un problema con la macchina e il garage che stava riparando l'auto ci ha consigliato l'Hotel de Paris. Dal momento in cui siamo arrivati, ci hanno fatto sentire i benvenuti e accuditi. Molta simpatia per i nostri problemi con la macchina e ci è stata subito offerta una camera con vista sul mare per la notte. La camera era un po' piccola ma aveva un sacco di spazio nell'armadio e un bagno molto bello. Ben arredato. I cuscini extra erano nascosti nell'armadio se li desideri. La colazione era la solita tariffa francese di un hotel: buffet con affettati, frutta, cereali, pasticcini ecc. Buon caffè in abbondanza. Questo è un hotel in cui sono ammessi animali domestici e c'erano molti ospiti con cani, quindi se gli animali domestici non fanno per te, fai attenzione! Ma i cani erano i benvenuti e il personale li ha presi in giro, mettendo chiaramente i proprietari dei cani a loro agio. Si tratta di un accogliente e tradizionale hotel francese sul mare, ricco di fascino e dotato di connessione Wi-Fi gratuita. C'era una tv in camera ma non l'abbiamo usata. Sarebbe un buon posto in cui soggiornare se si visitano le spiagge della Normandia: Courseulles è carina.

Dopo aver parcheggiato l'auto nel parcheggio davanti (dove il canale aveva un forte odore di fogna), siamo stati accolti bruscamente alla reception (dopo aver aspettato 5 minuti), siamo saliti orribili gradini bui fino alla nostra camera al terzo piano. La camera aveva un vecchio tappeto macchiato, persiane rotte e un letto cigolante. Francamente avremmo dovuto andarcene.

Faded grandeur and in need of updating. Staff very friendly though. One night, the bar and restaurant closed at 6pm so no service whatsoever! Had to go out for food and drink. The one evening g we did eat in, the food was excellent. There appeared to be no staff on the premises at night as we were all given a pass number to gain entry

Having booked an 'Air B&B' in nearby Arromanches les Bains and found it to be an absolute disgrace and not anywhere near as advertised, we were left with the option of a nights sleep in the car..?? With no apparent accommodation nearby, we googled to find that the Hotel De La Plage had rooms available and only 11 minutes away. We hurried over to be met by a very charming and professional young lady who got us a splendid yet cosy room. It was immaculately clean with all the comforts we expected. The hotel reviews stated that it was comfortable, with friendly staff and a great restaurant. They were not wrong. I had the moules and frites, and my partner had the chicken. Both were delicious, and the chips were, without doubt, the best chips I have ever tasted.. We had great, peaceful nights, sleep, and a lovely breakfast in the morning. All in all, this was a great choice, and I would, and indeed, will be stopping here again, even if it is just for a bowl of chips..! Free parking too, directly outside the hotel. What's not to like.
