I am not sure how this hotel is four stars, as it does not offer much beyond a tiny, non-updated room to sleep in and a nice location in the Loire, and I do not believe it is worth the price. We had trouble booking online with the first confirmation not coming through, but I called and confirmed the reservation. We arrived at 20:15 and the reception was not staffed, so we had to call the hotel and were directed to the restaurant. Then we were given keys to two non-adjoining rooms, although I had booked a suite, which I inquired about, and I was told that no other rooms were available. Upon going to the room, I realized that the welcome letter was addressed to a different person--the attendant didn't think to verify my identity when I questioned the lack of a suite, and I was not expecting a personalized letter. We returned to receive the correct suite assignment, and my husband slipped the key/letter back to the attendant as the other party arrived. The restaurant was expensive with tiny servings and inattentive service. The next day, the hotel breakfast looked to be cereals from a distance--instead, we had breakfast at a cafe and picked up pastries at a lovely shop across the street for about 12 euros. Upon checkout, I had to ask the attendant to remove 60 euros in breakfast charges! They did not charge for parking at least.

The lift was out of order for a couple of days so you had to go up and down 4 (!) stairs to get to the room. No help with the suitcases offered though. Plus the fact that the receptionist said that the lift would be just around the corner. The room itself was tiny, facing the road and the opposite house so you could not open the window. The entire stay there was the sound of running water which did not come from our room. The bed was hard but the pillows even harder which gave us neck pain. When leaving the room you have to pull the room key. Really all electricity is off then. Even your mobile could not be charged and every time you come back to the room the TV turns on saying ‚no connection’. You habe to switch it off manuslky then. The maid was extremely loud in the next room, bumping things against the wall as if she wanted us to get out of our room. Finally she wanted to come in the room at 9:40 despite the fact that we placed the ‚do not disturb‘ sign and check out was 11:00. All in all not good.

Poor service and the place had no one around to assist during check in and check out I.e 9pm and 6.30am. Luckily some one passed the main door or we would have been standing outside for a while as the entry after hours is only through your room key card. The place didn’t feel alive and welcoming.

Poor hotel for price level
This is not a 4 star hotel by any stretch of the imagination. They have no coffee in the room, no laundry service. We had to check in through the restaurant since there is never anyone at the reception. At check out, we had to leave early (6am) and there was no one there again, he asked us to wait till 8 am even when we told him we had a flight. We were never even informed that reception is not available 24x7 which is the norm at 4 star hotels. Not a pleasant stay.

We had a great stay here. The refurbishment is excellent, very well decorated. The standard rooms are comfortable if a little small - but really missing a kettle or coffee machine, the restaurant is excellent, great choice of local wines. Overall would recommend.

well located in the centre of cheverny, rooms are well decorated but not the most clean one you could find, there are cockroaches running around..... breakfast options are good the staff are very friendly

This was a fantastic end to our holidays (23rd July). We had a family room (2 interconnecting rooms) which was great. The beds were so comfortable. Breakfast was amazing. A great choice of cereals complemented with nuts & dried fruit. Lots of bread, pastries, croissants & lovely jams & honey. Nicest sausages & bacon I've ever had in France & the scrambled eggs were so fluffy & creamy (not the usually dried fare you get at a buffet). Also homemade fromage frais & fresh fruit salad. Great to also get proper espresso coffee & hot chocolate. The breakfast is expensive (€16 adult/€12 child) but so worth it. The only criticism I would have is that you'd hope for freshly squeezed orange juice at that price. Finally, the hotel staff were all very friendly & helpful, particularly the very efficient lady on reception & lovely lady who served breakfast. Will hopefully return next year & try dinner as the terrasse looks beautiful.

certes l’hotel est joli, mais... accueil tres froid du receptinniste qui fini tranquillement ce qu’il fait sur son pc avant de daigner nous dire bonjour 2mn plus tard. des portes qu’il faut claquer pour fermer, sympa pour le silence. pas de volets ni rideaux metalliques, bref reveil au lever du soleil, et si le soleil ne suffit pas, reveil a 7h avec la cloche du clocher qui touche l’hotel... et enfin des cheveux dans le lit... bref tres loin du standing affiché!
