Das Hotel ist offenbar der einzig noch bewohnbare Teil der ehemaligen "VEB Stadtbrauerei Cottbus", das Gebäudeensemble steht unter Denkmalschutz und so sieht das ganze Ambiente dann auch aus (siehe Bild). Wann die dazugehörige Gaststätte mit den angeblich so guten Schnitzeln und Bratkartoffeln überhaupt geöffnet ist, ist mir während des dreitägigen Aufenthalts nicht so recht klar geworden, mittags und am späteren Abend jedenfalls nicht. Das Zimmermobiliar hat den Baumarkt-Charme der frühen 90er Jahre, ebenso die Sanitärausstattung, die hygienisch grenzwertig und dringend renovierungsbedürftig ist. Hervorzuheben ist allerdings das gute Frühstück, die Nähe zum Bahnhof und der Innenstadt und das ganz akzeptable Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis, wenn man mit den eingangs geschilderten Mängeln leben kann. Fazit: Für ein Fußball-Wochenende O.K., aber für einen längeren Urlaub ungeeignet, denn echte Wohlfühlatmosphäre will hier nicht aufkommen.

Das Haus ist sicher seit einigen Jahrzehnten nicht mehr renoviert worden, das hat aber auch viel Charme. Vor allem im Gasthaus. Die Gerichte der Küche sind bodenständig und einfach. Dafür auch preiswert. Die Zimmer sind Standard, das Frühstück aber reichhaltig und gut. Der Service ist gut. Das Personal sehrt freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wünsche werden gerne Erfüllt. W-Lan funktioniert leider nicht.
