The town of Cortona (1 km) is beautifully situated on a steep slope. Because hardly anything has changed here since the Renaissance, it still has a real authentic atmosphere. Or how about Arezzo (32 km)? Some highlights of the city are the Piazza Grande, the Saint Francis Basilica and the Cathedral. Besides that, there are many fine shops in Arezzo and nice restaurants.
In Montepulciano (35 km) you can climb the tower of the Palazzo Comunale. It offers beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. Known for its quality wines, you shouldn't leave the city without tasting at least a glass!
Between all that culture, you can take a refreshing dip in Lake Trasimeno (15 km) or take a boat trip to one of its islands. For fashion lovers: in Valdichiana (27 km) you'll find a large outlet store. In the same town is also a 9-hole golf course. Supermarket, restaurant, post office and a bank in Cortona.
