Round Hill Hotel & Villas

This review is slightly mixed, not because this place had flaws in its service, but because of the environment and of the time period that it harkens back to. This may be something you are into, and may make some folks feel slightly uncomfortable. I personally want to say my stay was amazing. I was treated like a queen. The service was amazing, unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. I felt cared for in every way and came home feeling the peace and tranquility I’ve been needing. The extreme price tag of this place gives you just that, plus the beautiful surroundings of nature, private chefs/maids to tend to your needs in the villas… it was truly a Fine, Michelin star experience, complimentary British Tea time every afternoon, and complimentary snorkels and water sports gear to enjoy the ocean… however if you are uncomfortable with seeing a one sided demographic being served by another, even some of the uniforms are uncomfortable to see, making you feel part of a time period and treatment of a certain demographic that should be left in the past, then this is not the place for you. I also saw the same employees the entire weekend working more than 12 hour shifts… of course they may have gotten breaks, but I wouldn’t know. I think this place is special, and has impeccable service, but it’s leaning towards slightly cringy. We can do better than putting Jamaican female chefs and childcare providers in old school maid and nanny outfits. Not my cup of tea… perhaps they can be traded for legit chef uniforms and nice personal clothing. I enjoyed hearing classical music during tea time, it was very peaceful, however it wasn’t culturally Jamaican… that’s what I was missing from this place… but maybe that’s the goal. I woke up every morning at sunrise to go to the beach and often the workers were singing and listening to their music, but when they’d see me, they’d stop. I thought they being themselves added to the atmosphere… anyway. That’s my two sense. I wouldn’t change the impeccable service mindset of this place… it is what one wants on a true vacation, however I would rethink the tone… a colonial time period is something we should reconsider uplifting…

What more could we have asked for from Round Hill? I find myself asking that question and I keep coming up with the same answer…nothing! My husband and I got married here two weeks ago and all we and our 82+ guests can say is how amazing of a time we all had. We stayed in Cottage 10 which was legit like something out of a movie, with first class service by the entire staff, Daniel, Colleen, Joan and so many others made it feel better than home. The food as always is far superior to any resort I have been to in the Caribbean and I’m still dreaming of the filet mignon we had on our wedding day. The tea time snacks are amazing, the snapper tacos and the **** chicken were all delicious. The timeless elegance of Round Hill is honestly one of my favorite things about the resort. The impeccable classic design and beautiful grounds makes you feel as though you are apart of the resorts rich history. And definitely splurge over at the spa where Richard will probably give you the best massage you ever had. Thank you to Josef, Leonja, and Melissa for all your help coordinating the wedding everything was so on point and you helped us create memories that will last a lifetime. We will be back soon for sure. Jamaica will always be a special place for me but Round Hill will always be home for us.

The villa was expansive and beautiful. Well designed and decorated. View was long over the water even if a little obstructed by larger villa in front. Plunge pool was a great place to cool off after the walk up the hill. Overall the resort was a great place to unwind. Food was well prepared and served with good variety of offerings. Too bad the offerings to experience the island are not available.

Absolutely beautiful grounds and atmosphere with the nicest staff anywhere. The food was so-so and SO expensive it was almost shocking. The bar was a nice place to hang out away from the sun or before dinner. The spa was just OK, no steam or slippers and I found out later there was a shower but I was never told so left covered in oil from the massage. The massage room was tiny and not great.

On my last day at Round Hill, I wrote the Conde Nast review for 2024 for them. I was so impressed. I wanted them to be on the list. But then…Well, there is another story. How can you destroy two pieces of Rimowa luggage worth 3000 USD and not even say anything? And I tipped the guy who did this 20 bucks:) There were no apologies and no offers to resolve the issues. And just like that, we realized that one piece of luggage was missing the wheel and the other ( a cabin one, if you can believe it) was broken. How can you break cabin luggage in a hotel? How is this even possible? One thing is for sure..I’ll go to Conde Nast, Trip Advisor, and everyone else in the hospitality business to tell my story. Round Hill is not heaven on earth.

Round Hill is a timeless iconic boutique resort. It is a step back in time when guests were royally treated and appreciated. The kind notes from the front desk staff and the General Manager Josef say it best "Welcome Home." That warm greeting understates the feeling you get experiencing a Round Hill stay. The accommodations, staff, restaurant, cuisine, spa, beach, and activities are first rate. Your choices are Ralph Lauren designed room suites or entire Villas that come with a maid who makes you breakfast in the morning! All this executed by an extraordinary caring staff! Looking forward to many more future memories there!
