This could be a really nice hotel with some TLC. First, the staff try's really hard and I certainly appreciate that. My wife and I booked an executive corner suite with a view of the bay and skyline. Unfortunately, the room was in need of some serious renovation. I was shocked they even tried to book this room. The smell was beyond belief, carpet not fixable, walls in terrible need of work. Not to mention the outdoor furniture that was not fit to sit on. Now, the manager gave us a $100 credit for our troubles and we downgraded to a pool view room, This room was fine, carpet still needed a clean, but passable. The lobby is nice, but the area outside of the rooms needs attention. The walkways had bird mess that does not get cleaned on a regular basis and it certainly shows. The walkways are getting repaired, but they are long over due. This made the transition from the lobby to our room an unpleaseent experience. My wife and I had originally book a SPA day and the cabana for all the days we were there. We canceled all hotel activities knowing that we would not want to spend time there. The really sad thing was when a couple sitting next to us struck up a conversation and conveyed they were having a similar experiment. Once finding out I was a Titanium / Lifetime Platinum Bonvoy member they ask if Marriott had nice hotels. Bottom Line: Pass until fixed!
