I was here on a trip with my choir and it was absolutely the worse hotel I've ever stayed at. We stayed for 5 nights but wanted to leave after 5 minutes. The rooms had Mildew that the've tried to cover with paint (a lot of students got sick and one even got Corona). It was so hot in the room but you could'nt have your window open because other people where smoking right outside your window, It was also impossible to sleep because the walls are paper thin and people are so loud outside. If you wanted to shower you had to go to the shared bathroom where the doorcover was easy to unlock from outside, and the door also ended right under your knees, not safe at all! I would rate my experience minus points! Stay away! Warning!

The rooms are clean and the hostel is well located, but if you’re looking for a good night’s sleep, this isn’t your place. The showers and sinks all work well (all push taps); the shower in the room I stayed in leaked water all over the bathroom floor, but this eventually drained and wasn’t really a problem. The common spaces are good, and it’s a good hostel to make connections and meet new people. Well-placed just on the edge of central Cork, so there’s very little external noise but it’s still really easy to walk anywhere in the city. Felt safe but not as secure or privacy-oriented as some other hostels (no privacy curtains or luggage bins in dorms). The beds were really creaky, and even a pair of earplugs couldn’t cut out the sound of other people in the dorm rolling over. The walls are also very thin so any noise in the hallway or adjacent rooms is as loud as if it is in your own room. The hostel is a short and simple walk from Parnell Place bus station if you arrive by bus.

It,s my 2nd time staying in Sheila hostel on June 27th, 2024. The female staff that night was very smily, friendly and helpful. I was staying in 6 bed female dorm next to the shower room but very cozy, quiet at night. The bed is amazing with USB chargers. Love their bed so I slept very well. The hostel is very clean. I didnt have €4 breakfast as the presentation looks a bit plain but what more can you ask for 4 Euro. I will definally stay there again. Highly recommend.

Surprisingly comfortable hostel bunk beds. Staff were friendly and helpful, and plenty of communal space for relaxing. Good location for the train and bus stations and an easy walk to the city centre. Will stay there again next time I visit,

We weren’t sure about this hostel but given that it was reasonably priced for Cork we decided to chance it. We needn’t have worried. We had a private room with shared bathroom facilities. We had read a number of reviews about the bathrooms being dirty. This was definitely not the case. They were spotless every time we used them over our two day stay. I can’t speak for the dorm floors but those on the 3rd floor were fine. We found our beds comfortable and whilst the room was small there was still enough space to move around. The linen was clean and there was space to put things. We used the kitchen for breakfast and dinner. It was well appointed, clean and had plenty of tables to sit at. WiFi was good and there is parking out front. If you are on foot there is a pretty steep hill to come up from the main street. We are in our 70’s and made it! Be aware there is no lift at the hostel and all I can say is, thank goodness a staff member helped us get our cases up to the 3rd floor. I really don’t think we could have managed it. The hostel is within walking distance to cafes, restaurants and shops and you can pick up supplies at the supermarket or delicious goodies from the English Market. All in all a good stay.
