From the moment you arrive, you are greeted and treated as old friends. Before heading out for dinner each evening, we enjoyed visiting with our hosts (who speak excellent English - and French, of course) and two other couples who were staying there, with wine and fruit on the outdoor terrace. These early evening moments looking out upon a nearly timeless panoramic landscape provided a peaceful respite to our travels. Built into the outer stone walls of the medieval city, the guest rooms are located up stone staircases, situated on timbered balconies that surround a brick half-timbered inner courtyard. The “front” entrance is on a very quiet pedestrianized street inside the walls and less than five minutes walk to anywhere in the old city. We had unlimited use of a shared living/dining room which was huge, beautifully furnished and arranged to provide cosy areas to relax, as well as the outdoor terrace. Breakfast was superb, including fresh espresso coffees (not pre-packaged) and fresh local baked goods and fruits. The rooms are spacious, clean and well-maintained and decorated with period-style furniture but with a fully modern and large bath. The bed and sofa in our room were comfortable, and there were plenty of power outlets. Parking is on the road located immediately to the rear of the building, with a parking fee during the day but not overnight. Our hosts provided many recommendations about the area for restaurants and villages to visit. Please note for the mobility-challenged, there are steep winding stairs and no lift. We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights at la Maison Bakea and highly recommend this B&B!

My stay at Maison Bakea was so very enjoyable. The House is so lovely and has amazing antiques throughout. Marie is such a caring hostess, she made my stay so comfortable. The rooms are all lovely. Maison Bakea was a great place to stay to take day trips to the nearby Bastides and other attractions in this beautiful part of France. Marie and Giles made me feel very at home, I highly recommend spending time at Maison Bakea.

La Maison Bakea is an absolutely beautiful B&B, situated in the gorgeous 14-Century castle-like home, owned and operated by a charming couple and decorated with great taste with eclectic mix of finest antiques and lovely vintage items. Marie - the owner - was so kind that she even made dinner reservations for us at the finest restaurants, both at Cordes-sur-Ciel and in Albi, where we traveled during our stay. Needless to say, her choices were perfect! We enjoyed every minute of our stay at La Maison Bakea!

Amazing place in Cordes sur Ciel! Catheryn is very welcoming and professional. The place has a magic that few places on earth have. The city itself is gorgeous but the peace I experienced in Maison Bakea is unparalleled. Highly recommended.

A truly exceptional place to say with a very attentive host! Upon arrival she gave us a tour of the fascinating medieval property. There is an amazing living space which is open only during breakfast due to Covid concerns, but the spacious terrace leaves more than enough space to enjoy a glass of wine after a day of sightseeing. The breakfast is wonderful, if light, and our host gave us great recommendations for restaurants in Cordes and Albi. The rooms are unique and comfortable with plenty of amenities, although there are limited plugs for charging devices. The property is right off the major street in Cordes so you’re close to all the shops, galleries, and restaurants. Would recommend for anyone, but especially medieval enthusiasts.

We had a wonderful two night stay. The host Marie leaves no stone unturned to make you feel at home with a wonderful tour of the house and fantastic service. Breakfast was great on the terrace with many of the items made in house. The villages in the area are spectacular and Marie gave great recommendations for where to visit and restaurants to eat at. We will definitely be back if traveling that way again.

What an incredible place to stay. This 13th century property has been lovingly restored by the owners and offers first class service and accommodation that it is a privilege to stay in. Breakfast on the terrace is an unforgettable experience.

Absolutely stunning building full of history - warm welcome from host who showed us round and recommended places to eat (this is a B&B - no evening meal) you can bring your own wine and drink on the terrace after dinner with superb views of the valley and countryside - really good breakfast on the terrace - we will definitely stay here again next time we are in Cordes

My wife and I were supposed to go Maison Bakea as part of our vacation this month. We were planned to go with another couple. The other couple backed out of the vacation at the last minute due to medical reasons. The day before we were supposed to arrive there we found out I was unable to rent a car without an international drivers license. When we called Maison Bakea she was rude and uncooperative. She told us that our problems were not her problems. She also told us that on Monday and Tuesdays everything was closed so that we would only obtain the room and the breakfast. We would be isolated without a car. Consequently a train was not an option. We were hoping she would have refunded our money since this was not clear when our room was booked. It was like she didn't want us to come out and for that reason we decided to stay in Toulouse. Of course she kept our money. Our hotel in Toulouse couldn't believe it and reported her to the Tour Agency on Toulouse. We were very disappointed.
