The Cellars-Hohenort

This is one of the most memorable hotel experiences during my 5 week around the world trip. Stayed one night during off peak season in early July 2024 with my kid when the hotel was still Hyatt’s partner. This place is a true and true 5 star hotel and the service was impeccable. Upon check in, Waheib (sorry if I spelled your name wrong) from front desk welcomed me and my son and delivered the great news that our room was upgraded with complimentary breakfast. He then proceeded to gave us a thorough tour of the hotel and explained every features of the room so patiently. This was our 6th country during our long trip and his service was the first of a kind. Thank you, Waheib. The beautiful room was enormous for us. There was a welcome note addressed to me and a welcome gift(bottle of wine) in the room. The towel warmer and extra long bath tub was so relaxing after a wet, cold and exhausting day. Ended up ordering room service for my son and the portion was huge that i couldn’t even help him eat them all. Food was fresh and of great quality. The breakfast in The Conservatory was just amazing. The ambiance just transported me to a different world with floor to ceiling window to enjoy the greenery outside from the comfort of magnificent indoor dining. Food was plenty and staff treated us with warmth, compassion and detail to attention. The fresh press juice was so refreshing and delicious. We later took complimentary shuttle to the botanical garden nearby. Our flight was not until late at night so we ended up eating early dinner there before checkout. The dining manager got me the fresh ginger juice available during breakfast when requested. The dining staff dropped what he was doing and took us around the property when asked for direction. Waheib then checked us out and came out to send us off on our uber. It felt like every staff member was genuinely happy to help hotel guests at any given moment. This service, in addition to the beautiful hotel built in 1700s, was what made this place so memorable even for a one night stay.

This is a beautiful tucked away gem of a hotel and the rooms are charming. The staff was warm and friendly.

Quality, excellence, ingenious, creative, beautiful. Much enjoyed the meal here and ambience. Such a fine building and gardens with discretion and flair. Wonderful mix of vibrant contemporary interiors with classical Cape. Food was wonderfully presented. Recommended. Booking essential.

We felt cared for from the moment we arrived. Friendly staff, comfortable room, stunningly decorated Conservatory Restaurant and wonderful Autumnal gardens to explore.

What a wonderful hidden gem. We arrived straight after an overnight flight. They were very accommodating about checking in early, and we got a slight upgrade. The staff were very helpful , nothing was too much trouble. The complimentary transfer was very useful to visit the gardens nearby , and was much easier than driving yourself. We had a very restful experience , unfortunately the weather was mixed the first two days of our stay, but the pool area was very nice on our last day when the sun came out. The general manager was very attentive and took on board any negatives and fed them back to his team. I would highly recommend a stay at this property.

During our first trip to Cape Town, we had four very enjoyable nights at The Cellars-Hohenort. Despite the after-midnight arrival, it was a warm greeting by the reception staff who ensured we were quickly settled into a balcony room, and that was a welcome relief after our 20+ hour journey. There is so much to praise about The Cellars Hohenort: beautifully landscaped grounds, clear views of Table Mountain, excellent meals in their Conservatory Restaurant, luxurious and comfortable rooms, and the painstaking restoration of this historical property. The staff deserve a special note of praise for their professional and genuinely friendly and attentive service.
