Unlike other reviews of this Hilton property, I was extremely grateful to even have a room in close proximity to State College move-in weekend. This is my third stay at the Hampton Inn and Suites Williamsburg Square, and it is my first stay during a crushing volume kind of weekend. I was relieved that I had booked it so far in advance, unknowing it was the PSU move in weekend. With that said, compared to my previous stays, yes - the staff was stretched, but my room was ready at check-in, impeccably clean, and front desk and housekeeping staff were responsive and accommodating to my requests (which were few). The pool was very clean, the breakfast area looked like a huge volume of families had moved through, and yes - there was a crumb here and there, but the food area was surprisingly spotless and well stocked. Coffee was full and hot - which is a thing of mine. Having had stayed at this property earlier in the summer, during a very quiet low volume weekend, I can say in my vast experiences spent in college towns across the south and northeast at Hilton properties - this property and the staff have met and exceeded my expectations! Is it expensive on high volume weekends? Of course. This is a huge university town, and compared to a Gainesville, FL or Ithaca, NY I found the price reasonable. Bravo! I look forward to retuning soon.
This hotel is an excellent stay. It was spotless, quiet and very easy to get to. There are 3 major restaurants within walking distance. We would highly recommend this hotel. The hot breakfast was very good and staff were very helpful and pleasant. We would stay here again whenever we are in the area.
We are walking from Calais Maine to Key west Florida, generally along route US1. We walk two weeks at a time and then drive home (Cincinnati, Ohio) til we have time to return. Since we are not the roughing-it hiking type people and since I am a Marriott platinum member we always try to stay at a Marriott if one is available. We are in transit right now to Where we left off in Freeport Maine and stopped last night at the Fairfield, State College inn on our way. We had a terrific guy at the front desk last night who told us that he loved his job and meets all kinds of interesting people. He was such a breath of fresh air that we decided we should be reviewing the Marriott’s in which we stay. So, here is of our first review. The State College Fairfield Inn had all the ingredients of a perfect stay, extra friendly, staff, immaculately clean rooms, very comfortable beds, and a heating/cooling unit the actually works. Since we are 82and 71, respectively, the stay was affordable. Topped off was a tasty breakfast. My need to say something negative is that the oatmeal was in premixed containers that you mix yourself not cooked up in a pot. Thank you State College Fairfield.

The 1970s called! We needed a place to stay during a busy time period at Penn State and fortunately got the last room here. Overall, it was clean and in a great location (not far from PSU and next door to The Waffle House and The Greek). Those were the pluses. So, what was wrong? I can live with the outdated furniture and decor for a night as I believe they're working on updating rooms. However, how difficult is it to get rid of the junk outside? Our friends who were staying elsewhere thought it was hysterical that a random bureau was just sitting right outside the motel. Also, we had an easy chair parked directly under our window along with a laundry basket and dirty linens. The basket and linens were there at least one whole day and were still there when we returned around midnight. Out the back window was a kiddie pool that looked like it hadn't been drained in 3 years along with all kinds of junk. Updating gets expensive. I get it. But throwing away junk like old furniture should be easy. This place needs Anthony from ”Hotel Impossible” as it has potential.
