UUtente ospiteWe found Aurora River Camp a magical place to stay in a winter wonderland. Staying in the glass Igloo facing the frozen Torne River was a lifetime experience for us. We were surprised at how well-designed and high-tech the igloo was with touchscreen controls for everything and more than sufficient amenities, while overlooking the white snowfield all around. It was amazing to find the different lights, the hot plate, enough utensils, a freezer, a running water wash basin, and personal Wifi inside the igloo. Once inside, we never felt that the outside temperature was -25C with the heating controlled by a touchscreen thermostat. The facilities at the common house for breakfast were more than adequate and the both-way transfer was the icing on the cake. Adventurous people could even easily walk over the frozen Torne River to check out the Ice Hotel across.

UUtente ospiteA Kiruna non c'è nulla e questa città è la più a nord della Lapponia Svedese (molto molto distante dal resto d'Europa) ma : una meraviglia e magia vi attende. Valutare Icehotel non è facile, non ci sono parole adeguate per descriverlo e per far capire la bellezza di questo posto che da se ”vale il viaggio” E' possibile visitarlo pagando un biglietto (30€ ad adulto) che li vale tutti, oppure se si è ospiti dell'Hotel (come nel ns caso) la visita è inclusa nel soggiorno. E' una scultura nel ghiaccio fatta da una parte centrale con ingresso/bar/tavoli in cui sedersi, mentre in un'ala della struttura potrete trovare 12/15 stanze ”capolavori”, ognuna diversa e realizzata da un artista secondo la propria idea. Il ghiaccio rende magico il rumore, le luci, i riflessi ed è veramente indescrivibile quello che si può vedere in questo posto. Abbiamo soggiornato in un Cottage Nordic della struttura, ci sono circa 30 di questi cottage, sicuramente bello, funzionale e molto ”lappone”. Non aspettatevi un lusso a 5 stelle ma aspettatevi di vivere la magia di essere in un posto unico al mondo, svegliarvi e non sentire rumore e vivere la serenità di un contesto fuori dal tempo. Colazione e pranzo nel ristorante dell'albergo, basta attraversare la strada; forse la miglior colazione che ho fatto nel nord europa nei miei viaggi; la cena è possibile averla in un'altro ristorante Old Homestead (sempre dell'hotel) situato a 900mt del complesso principale, altro luogo molto suggestivo e ricco di tipicità del posto. Ricordatevi che siete a Kiruna, un posto dove non c'è nulla ma proprio nel nulla troverete una delle forme d'arte più stupefacente, fatta dall'uomo con materiale che ”viene dal fiume” e ”tornerà al fiume”.

UUtente ospiteLa colazione non è male, la semplice colazione nordica è principalmente per il noleggio di sci, slitte trainate da cani e prenotazioni di gruppi di riflettori, il che è abbastanza conveniente. Per lo sci, ci sono piste da sci nell'hotel, ma è relativamente selvaggio, ed è lo sci nordico, che è un po' diverso dallo sci alpino. Gli sci sono un po' snelli. Io e il mio amico abbiamo due persone, ma ci sono due letti singoli in una stanzetta e un letto a castello in una stanzetta, che può ospitare un totale di quattro persone.
