A true museum of a hotel! It combines comfort with refinement. Big, light and airy bedrooms tastefully appointed, charming and helpful staff. Its location offers good views on the Nam Khan river and its annex on the opposite bank is equally charming. Owner Ivan Scholte produces some wonderful wines and tips for off-track excursions. It is close to temples, shops and other entertainment without compromising its quiet and peaceful atmosphere. My family and I spent an idyllic week there. Not to be missed: Laos Buffalo Dairy and the Living Land ricefield trip (where you get to go through all the stages of cultivating rice, down to eating it!)

L'hotel Sada era bellissimo! Il personale era benvenuto e molto felice di vederci, anche se il loro inglese era limitato. Ci hanno camminato in cortile attraverso il ponte della coy e un volo di scali verso la nostra suite. La nostra entrata ha guardato la grande piscina. Abbiamo aperto la porta a una stanza espansiva con mobili vecchi, un bel pavimento in legno e un muro pieno di pavimento per le finestre. Una finestra era una porta al balcone che guardava il cortile e la coca e correva la lunghezza della nostra stanza, aveva due sedie e una tavola. Ci sono stati moltissimi depositi nel mobilio. Il mobilio comprendeva un ufficio e una sedia e un tavolo per cena con due sedie. Ci sono stati anche due sedie casuali e una tavola da caffè dove abbiamo guardato la TV fino a quando non ci sono stati pochi in inglese. Il personale mette frutta sul tavolo del caffè ogni giorno. Nel cassetto erano due vestiti. Il bagno comprendeva una doccia, un tubo di asciugamano e un bacino. Il colazione era incluso e servito in un bellissimo rum di cena al primo piano. La piscina era calda e pulita e vuota da ospiti quando eravamo li'.Circa un chilometro di distanza è un mercato notturno che comprende un grande spazio per mangiare con numerosi venditori di cibo e molte opzioni alimentari. È camminabile se si può camminare circa un chilometro nel calore, ma tuk-tuks sono facilmente trovati e molto costosi. Avanti soldi Lao in piccole somme da pagare. Un tuk-tuk al mercato notturno era circa $3.00 o quanto $5.00 quando ci hanno raccolto nella pioggia. Sada era tranquilla e rilassante e il prezzo era molto ragionevole.

This hotel is in a beautiful setting with separate accommodations, restaurant and reception buildings set in beautiful very well maintained gardens. Maybe it was our mistake to visit at a very quiet time of year. The customer service was shocking! I mean absolutely appalling! Not sure if the staff need to be better trained or they just couldn’t be bothered. Coming back from an evening in town just after 10pm, the place is in darkness so we had to use our phone touched to make our way towards our building. We saw the light in the reception. We thought we would ask for last drinks to take to our room. The member of staff clearly wasn’t expecting to see anyone and was quickly doing his uniform up as we approached. He told us we couldn’t have a drink as the person whose job it was had gone home and we had to use the mini bar. That only contained 2 cans of beer which my husband didn’t drink. Next day we came back from sight seeing at 2pm and asked for a drink only to be told again to just use the mini bar. Clearly they couldn’t be bothered or interested in making additional money from our drinks. After pushing them, they did some drinks, but they could only be delivered to our room. That evening we came back from town early to get a last drink only to find the person who job it was to pour drinks had gone home early. They actually made him drive back in to pour our drinks rather than doing it themselves. It took 50 minutes!! To top it all, the breakfast was so bad my husband ended having a very small bowl of cornflakes on 2 mornings. This is a 4* hotel!!! When we went to check my husband asked the manager to remove the service charge on previous nights drinks that he brought to the room himself after the 50 mins wait. This was her chance for damage limitation, she just said it wasn’t possible as it was just include. The receptionist then failed to calculate the 3% credit card charge correctly and tried to double our whole bill. Other hotels we visited on our trip were also on the quiet side but it meant we got amazing service. It’s a massive shame this hotel has so much going for it, none of it is its people. Spend slightly less on the garden and invest in staff and manager training or employ staff who give a toss!

Bella stanza con aria condizionata fredda! Una piscina nascosta nel retro è anche bello. Buona colazione gratuita e la parte migliore è stato il desk front very attentive! Ha fatto in modo di aiutare i miei amici e ho cose come i biglietti di treno o lavanderia senza essere ingannato. Apprezzo sempre persone veramente oneste che non cercano di svegliarti su tutto.

Sono rimasto qui per qualche notte come un viaggiatore solitario. Ho trovato perfetto per le mie esigenze. Ho scelto una stanza di vista sul fiume e questo è stato un aspetto meraviglioso del mio soggiorno a Luang Prabang. La stanza era pulita, c'era sempre acqua calda quando era necessario e il wifi era adeguato. Ho prenotato una navetta aeroportuale e diverse attività attraverso l'hotel e era conveniente e ben costoso. Resterò qui di nuovo e consiglierei loro di compagnia.

Clean, decent wifi, good location for walking in Luang Prabang, the monks come by the street out front from 6-7am every day. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the staff is exceptional. Breakfast was plentiful. I will definitely stay here again.

We stayed at Hillside for 6 nights and it was an amazing experience. Being out of season, 4 of those nights we were the only people staying which made it feel like our own exclusive and private paradise. Holgar, Aloun and Oscar made our stay so comfortable and relaxing - it was like a home away from home. Many evenings we would sit at the bar with them chatting, learning about their story, the local area and what’s generally happening across the country. It was like being with friends. The food was superb and the choice plentiful. Before we got to Hillside we were in Thailand where our son got very unwell and lost a fair bit of weight. He ate like a horse at Hillside so thankfully, by the end of our stay he had regained full strength. To say the setting is like paradise is not an exaggeration. You’re totally surrounded by nature - it’s 360 degree jungle and mountains. In fact, it’s all so pure that it doesn’t look real. Everything was well maintained and spotlessly clean. We did a few excursions while we were there. We went to Nahm Dong Park which is a 15 minute walk from Hillside. We didn’t have enough Lao Kip with us so Holgar settled our bill from the park and we paid him. Holgar also arranged for us to have a guide take us out for a day to Kuang Si Falls and a few other places. One evening, Oscar (Holgar and Aloun’s 10yr old son) and Buddy (their aging dog) took us for hike up to a viewpoint and then back through a village. All of these are great little touches that really added to our stay. Overall, we can’t fault anything and we are extremely grateful to Holgar, Aloun and Oscar for making us feel so welcome and looking after us impeccably well. We can wholeheartedly recommend staying at Hillside.

I was here as part of a G Adventure Tour. The hotel was very clean. The staff was friendly however, they did not really go out of their way to be helpful. It was also somewhat centrally located. It was about a 10 minute walk to the night market. The other positive was the fact that there was a very inexpensive place to do laundry around the corner. The cons …. I think they get a lot of tour group business and therefore, perhaps don’t really care. There are eight bicycles on display for guests to use. However, none of them work. They either have a flat tire, or the lock is broken. I was directed to a Guesthouse down the street to rent a bike for the day. Breakfast is really hit and miss. If you happen to be there on a day where there are at least two tour groups, there is a wide variety of selection of both hot and cold breakfast foods. If you are on a day where it is only your group, then the options are quite limited. You have fruit, toast, and some kind of egg. They don’t mention it but you also can also order noodle soup. On the last day that I was there, it was especially annoying, because the cook had made a wide variety of food for a photo shoot, but it was not available to eat. And the irony is these photos will be shown as what is available for breakfast, but it is not available for breakfast. There is a pool, but there are no pool loungers. Nor will they provide you one if you ask. I was asked to change my room, as it was reserved, but I ended up just changing hotels. I highly recommend the Grand Luangprabang. For an extra $20 you receive a magical experience on the bank of the Mekong river.
