Arrived at the hotel last Saturday, first impression the car park looked like a building site but I was not out off as it was obvious some improvements must be being made. Lady on reception was very pleasant and said she would check if the room had been cleaned as she was short of cleaning staff, a few minutes later all good and we were checking In however we were then told the restaurant was not opening tonight due to shortage of staff, seems a common theme here, still not being put off we went to our room which was ok, nothing special but it would do. We got up and went to breakfast and while passing reception the lady told us there may be a delay as they were busy, no problem we went and had a seat but it was obvious from the people complaining that something was not quite right. All was revealed when the lady in charge came to tell us there would be no breakfast as the chef had ”done a runner” this was now proper Fawlty towers stuff, so we packed up and went on our way. I wrote to Best western and was told my email was forwarded to the hotel for comment and within 2 days I got the generic apologetic response which I knew was coming, it seems managers have forgotten how to do a personal response, I emailed back and said while I accepted the apology I had paid extra for breakfast and had not received it and while it was not life changing money I should be refunded as a matter of principal as there had been no breakfast, I got a response back saying they would pay it into my bank account, it has not arrived back in my account. Best western, please keep the money it's obvious you need it more than I do, maybe stick it towards some staff, don't treat the public like fools, an apology and refund would have went a long way to accepting that your hotel was sub standard, to anyone booking this hotel I would phone before you arrive and check if the chef has done a runner and if so just book somewhere else as it's over £100 a night for nothing more than a sub standard hotel.

Vorrei poter esaminare l'hotel e il ristorante separatamente perché darei 4/5 per l'hotel e 0/5 per il ristorante. Il positivo condiviso da entrambi è stato molto amichevole e utile personale. Non possono essere colpevoli. La camera dell'hotel era buona e molto simile a quella delle foto. La qualità della camera non era come si aspettavano, ad esempio decorata a buon mercato e le vicinanze della finestra erano piuttosto sporche, ma era buona e ha fatto un'alternativa ragionevole a un Premier Inn. Purtroppo, il cibo nel ristorante era terribile.Quando ho visto il menu, le campane di allarme si sono spostate, che molti piatti e carne a quel prezzo non vivono bene. Ho giocato in sicurezza e ho avuto una lassagna di vegeta, ma ha un gusto di fondo ”oscuro”. L'insalata accompagnata era buona, ma aveva bisogno di un vestito o solo un po' di olio perché era secca di ossa. 2/5 per cena. La selezione del colazione era limitata e un colazione cucinata è chiaramente la cosa qui. Dopo i cereali ho sgranato le uova sul toast. Dopo un lungo aspettativo (che era strano perché l'unico altro cliente ha ricevuto il loro colazione molto prima di noi), Mi sono dato le uova più schiacciate che abbia mai visto. Il bianco e il cavolo non erano correttamente miscelati, così ci sono stati giri gialla e bianca, e le uova sono state terribilmente supercotte. Erano solide. Per compiere le cose, il toast sotto le uova schiacciate non è stato burro. Non sono un mangiatore di merda, ma non si può godere di una goccia di uova dure su tosta secca. Come può nessuno ottenere uova scramblete su tosta così male? 0/5 per colazione. Purtroppo, la prossima volta sarà il Premier Inn per me perché il ristorante era brutto e l'hotel avrebbe dovuto essere sorprendente per compensare di dover guidare altrove per mangiare.

Friendly staff easy checking service, the room was clean and tidy and the bed was very comfortable received everything that was expected from a hotel was very calm quiet night to wind down in and had amazing night sleep .

Really quirky pub with a warm welcome, good food and friendly locals . OK it's slightly shabby in places and could do with some TLC, but it's clean and great value for money. We had a lovely view of the Abbey. The bed was comfy and we had a good night's sleep. The breakfast was plentiful and freshly cooked to order. The traditional and veggie breakfasts were great. Will stay again. Thanks to all the lovely staff for a fab Xmas break.
