I don’t think I can recall seeing such an obvious decline in the quality of a hotel before as that which appears to happening at Slaley Hall. It’s a terrible shame as it’s been a special place to us since we first visited 25 years ago. I don’t know if something is going on behind the scenes but you get the impression a lot of the staff have given up. The service in the restaurant, particularly at breakfast, is (except for one member of staff) abysmal… & the food generally no more than average. The changing rooms at the Spa are dirty & really run-down, the pool is cold, & my wife’s ‘relaxing’ treatment was accompanied by loud drilling coming from another room. There was a smell of **** in one of the lifts on the Sunday night & it’s noticeable that certain services (concierge & room service) have been removed. The panelled corridors are still there, the rooms are a good size & it’s in a lovely setting. I’m guessing if you’re there for golf then it’s still worth visiting. But that apart, you’d struggle to see when its previously strong reputation comes from. Not sure there’s much to differentiate it from a travelodge attached to a brewers fayre pub. We’d intended to eat there again & book further treatments but quickly realised it’s really not good value given the very poor service & inflated prices. We may be back but only if we see some change of ownership or serious investment.

La posizione dell'hotel è molto buona. La grande mura di Huddleng è conveniente, il paese circostante è vicina a un piccolo fiume, il panorama è molto bello; l'hotel è un po'vecchio, ma è ben mantenuto e il bagno sembra essere ridecorato; il parcheggio ha un parcheggio sufficiente; La colazione è buona, ma la cena non è tutta la borsa, è solo un punto, 25 sterline, non molto, meno riempimento, questo è un po'insolito.
