Belle boutique come un hotel, le camere erano belle. Solo il problema è il rumore del traffico, abbiamo avuto le camere che si trovavano davanti all'autostrada e l'altra che si trovava anche davanti alla strada. . Il rumore del traffico era chiaramente disturbante e le finestre non erano buone. Breakfasr deve essere prenotato e non può camminare in cui non è conveniente.

La bella posizione, ho assistito alla festa di compleanno di un amico, il miglior servizio è stato ricevuto al ristorante buffet la sera e di nuovo la mattina da una giovane donna bionda orientale europea, lei è andata così fuori dal suo cammino per aiutarmi entrambi i tempi, Vorrei averle chiesto il suo nome.Il buffet ha avuto tutto quello che poteva voler, valeva bene il costo di $17.. Ho prenotato la Coleman Suite e era oltrepassato da sorprendente, ma le camere di base alcuni dei miei amici sembravano troppo costose.. Avrei dovuto usare la piscina, la sauna e altre strutture, ma non c'era tempo con la festa, consiglierei di rimanere per almeno 2 giorni la prossima volta.

Just back from honeymoon so now time to thank all those that made our special day so perfect, we stayed at 61 Durham for 2 nights and it was perfect from the moment we walked in to the moment we left the morning after our wedding. We’d had a couple of meetings with Rachel and Fabio before the big day to prepare our own menu and wine list and nothing was too much trouble for them, even on the morning of the wedding when the power in the hotel went out everything was calm and collected. Our Celebration meal was superb and everyone commented on how good the food was - Fabio, you were right your risotto was perfect 👍👍. We had 25 family members join us and from the restaurant which was set up exactly how we wanted it was such a great venue for our day with the grounds for our photos and the Garden Room to chill out in after our food. An extra special thanks to Rachel for putting up with us during the initial meetings but a huge thank you to her and the team for making our day a very special one indeed. Would recommend the venue to anyone looking for a laid back intimate day with family at a very reasonable price. Will be back for Sunday lunch soon 🙏👍

Arrivammo a Durham tardi pomeriggio dopo aver guidato ore dal distretto dei laghi attraverso il muro di Hadrian a Hexham. Abbiamo ricevuto il benvenuto dall'ospite William. Dopo l'ispezione abbiamo chiesto a William di direzioni alla Catedral di Durham. Sfortunatamente siamo stati persi e non siamo riusciti a arrivare. Ci siamo tornati al B&B molto stanco e deluso, perché abbiamo avuto solo la data di arrivo per visitare la Catedral. Siamo stati stanchi e William ha detto che ci sveglieremo solo per il nostro viaggio verso nord il giorno successivo. William non ne avrebbe sentito parlare e ci ha offerto di guidare alla cattedrale e anche di aspettarci mentre andavamo in giro. Eravamo imbarazzati e non volevamo fargli del male, ma lui insisteva e ci prese in macchina, agendo come guida di tour, guidava molte attrazioni e ci portò alla Catedral. Una volta che sapevo il modo, ho chiesto se potessimo tornare al B&B, così potevo guidarci in auto alla cattedrale e passare la serata intorno. Abbiamo riuscito a tornare a cantare la sera e poi a passare una bella serata a camminare. Se non fosse per William, avremmo passato la serata nella nostra stanza, per noi stessi, e la nostra stanza era al piano superiore. Quando parcheggiavo la macchina, mia moglie ha preso una piccola borsa.Una vecchia donna ha insistito per portare la borsa di sopra e, non importa quante volte mia moglie ha provato, ha insistito per portarlo. Anche se è disponibile solo parcheggio stradale, William ci ha assicurato che la zona era sicura e aveva ragione. Questa è una famiglia gestita da B&B e William e la sua famiglia non poteva essere più ospite, amichevole e utile.

The drive up to the castle was was fantastic as the view of the castle looked stunning. The entrance to the court yard for parking was quaint and inviting. The look of the court yard looking at all the out buildings looked inviting and very well presented. The “stocks” make for great entertainment The entrance to the reception is like looking for the secret door but the plaque at the side with history information explains why and is interesting to read. Inside the reception is is quite dark but this for me added to the ambience of the place. The staff where welcoming, polite and explained the hotel set up. We stayed in one of the room in the courtyard which was beautiful. Very nicely decorated and good value for money. The room was cozy. We’d booked to have a meal in the Knights Restaurant and we had pre drinks in the bar first The walk to the restaurant through the corridor into the central courtyard was very different yet beautiful. It’s so old and it was nice to see it was decorated and kept within “keeping” The bar again was inviting and cosy and it was great to see that the drinks and wine list was very reasonably priced. So often places know you are a target audience and inflate the prices ridiculously however in our opinion the castle had not done this. There was a good choice of cocktails and the “smoked” cocktails added that something a little bit different and we didn’t mind paying a few pounds more for the “quirkiness”. Again the staff where very professional, friendly and well presented. The walk from the bar/lounge area to the Knights Restaurant was stunning through the corridors of the castle and past a lovely looking staircase and when we walked into the restaurant I was overwhelmed as it was stunning and not what I was expecting. The arched ceiling, the lighting, the privacy of how the tables where set out we felt was very nice. We thought it all created a romantic setting. It was very secluded but included. The menu choice was good and the food was beautiful. The service was great too and again the staff were very professional, polite and very well presented. The prices on the menu varied so I would say they’d catered fo most people’s budget and it was your own choice on how much you spend Our nights sleep was comfortable and the walk back from the restaurant to the courtyard was well lit but again in keeping with been in a castle environment. Great use of mood lighting. My husband even went into the stocks on the was home (🤣) Breakfast the next morning again did not disappoint. The selection was fantastic and plenty of food to choice from Overall we can can not fault our experience. It was a lively venue with great facilities and very well presented. The staff where Courteous, polite, friendly and very well presented. I would recommend this as a place to go and stay. We must go back so we can stay in one of the castle rooms as I am sure they would be as good and maybe even more “quirkier” than the courtyard rooms which were very nice.

The spa was great, treatments were fantastic as were all staff! Weekend away on a budget, it was great. We left here and went to stay at Hilton hotel , paid 3x more for a room there and bannantynes was better, not as big, but better, and I never thought I’d hear anyone say that! Bannantynes was excellent value for money!
