Château de Ribourdin

Our family spent a wonderful night at the Chateau de Ribourdin. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious and very comfortable. The garden was well kept and beautiful. We also had a splash in the swimming pool prior to getting back on the road. The host, Matthieu, was perfect and very helpful to advise on what to visit and where to go for food. We walked to one of the two restaurants he recommended and had a great time. The breakfast was very good and you will be hard pressed to find someone as passionate as Matthieu to let you know all about the great selection of home made jams, locally sourced bread and croissants etc. The countryside is very charming and we will definitely come back to visit the area. Le Chateau de Ribourdin will then become our “pied a terre”. We were only sorry this was the last day of our trip otherwise we would have happily stayed longer.

If you're lucky enough to spend some time at the Château de Ribourdin, you'll very soon realize how special it is, and how glad you are to have done so. Our host Matthieu was incredible. He and his family have owned and run the property for generations and you can feel the love they put into it. Matthieu is unique in his kindness and willingness to go above and beyond to make one feel at home. He honestly felt like a friend. (A friend who knew exactly when to be there when you needed him and let you have space and privacy when you didn't). Thanks to him making a dinner reservation for us in town, we had one of the best meals of our trip, and woke up to a delicious selection of locally baked breads and jams that Matthieu and his family make from their garden. Our room was spectacular, and the countryside views outside even more so. Also, the neighboring town of Auxerre was one of the most beautiful we came across on our travels, which is only a short 10 minute drive away. It is full of history, as is the Château itself (which Matthieu is more than happy to tell you about on a tour of the grounds). All I will say further, is if you want to have an authentic and truly special experience, I cannot recommend Château de Ribourdin enough. Our only regret was not staying longer, but we hope to one day return and rectify that.

We had a wonderful stay at Chateau de Ribourdin! What a beautiful, peaceful, and special estate. We loved the gardens, the stunning views, and the incredible chateau. This family-run B&B was a pure delight---Matthieu was an amazing host, a true gem. He shared local recommendations, history of the town/region, and even made dinner reservations for our three-night stay! His hospitality and the information he shared definitely enhanced our visit to the area. And the breakfasts--Deelicious! Every morning we enjoyed a variety of yummy hand-selected and homemade options---such as baked goods, yogurt, a sampling of lovely jams, and fresh fruit. This was a great place to spend the last days of our trip before flying out of Paris CDG (only a 3-4hr drive on a weekday morning). We can highly recommend a stay at Chateau de Ribourdin!

Extremely friendly and helpful hosts. Copious and delicious breakfast. Clean rooms, comfortable beds. A spacious pool in a gorgeous garden setting with plenty of quiet corners to relax. Highly recommended, we will return!

The stay was remarkable truly amazing place and Matthieu as your host is incredible with lots of knowledge and “tips” of the area The breakfast was awesome and the building itself full of history and we enjoyed it so much we stayed on longer

We were travling back to UK after spending two weeks travelling around Europe on our first post lock down holiday. For us luckily we had booked a night in this quite delightful and enchanting Château. Matthew and family could not have been more welcoming. The rooms are spotlessly clean beautifully appointed and a breakfast to die for. This is a must stay for anyone who is in the area. It is very reasonable priced and that petit dejeuner est compris!

Mattieu and his father gave us a warm welcome to this wonderful Chambres D'hotes. Our room was spotless and the right mix of traditional furnishings and modern amenities. They are passionate about their chateau, the local village and the whole region, giving excellent advice on places to visit, quiet roads to take and where to eat. They provided the best breakfast we have ever had in France - truly delicious and varied. The region is perfect for cycling (canals as well as hills), historic sites (we only had time for Vezelay & Auxerre), great food and wine tasting(we tasted and bought Cremant de Bourgogne from Caves de Bailly). We are looking for any excuse to return to this picturesque location and it's friendly and dedicated family.
