The Stump

We booked for a wedding in 2025. Sadly this was cancelled. We therefore immediately contact the Stump to request a refund based on the fact we were giving 13 months notice!! Despite 13 months notice for one double room they refused to provide a refund. Unbelievably poor customer service and a huge lack of customer empathy and putting the customer first. Absolutely shocked considering the notice period provided !!

Extremely lovely meal out with the family for my Birthday. The pizzas were excellent and so tasty with everyone having clean plates. Desserts were just as nice and the tiramisu was as nice as we had in Italy! If you’re a Nutella fan the calzone is a must! The atmosphere is lovely and friendly and a big shout out to our server Sam who was so nice and friendly and made sure we were happy throughout - even getting a candle on my dessert and staff helping the family to sing Happy Birthday! A very enjoyable evening. We will be back!

We live locally and are regulars at The Stump usually using their take away van to order. We went for a sit down meal on Monday I chose the ham and mushroom pizza and my partner had the carbonara pizza and both were excellent. Service is friendly and efficient too. They also have a great roast on Sundays. We will be back soon.

Went for a nice pizza, ended up paying for the equivalent of a private jet. I had to ring up my bank to authorise the payment. When it came it was swimming in grease, it's a disgrace that a pair of armbands weren't included in the price. The garlic mayo was unlike any garlic mayo I've ever had, tasted suspiciously as if there was some mustard in it. The chefs didn't have the grace and decorum to cut the pizza before it was served, so the only positive was that the pizza cutter was taken home at no extra cost.

The stump is a very nice gastro pub. Nice beers and pizzas. They used to make very tasty tiramisu but not anymore. It used to be served in slices, but now in a pot, which is heavy on cocoa powder. Please bring back the proper cake instead of pots!!!!

Only two redeeming features for this pub - 1: they managed to fit us in on Easter Monday which we appreciated but only outside 2: my boyfriend had the nduja & chorizo pizza which he said was nice. Bad qualities - we asked for half a pint but they served and charged us for a full pint so obviously don’t listen to customers very well. Most of the menu was pizza based so you would’ve thought that they would be good but apparently not! Mine was sloppy, undercooked and wet. All the toppings slid right off and became inedible. Definitely not worth the money we spent on it. No staff came to check if the food was okay, if they had I would’ve asked for a refund

Found this place on our way back to where we were staying. We were welcomed by very friendly staff and were seated although we hadn't booked. Menu is mostly pizzas and they were good but the centres were slightly sloppy and undercooked. Good lager. Would come back again if in the area.

When I booked on line for lunch last Friday, I added a comment about needing a gluten free meal. However, in spite of having 2 gf items on their menu, we were told that there was ‘flour all over the kitchen’ and that they couldn’t guarantee anything being gf. That’s fine, but why then print on their menus that they provide gf pizza for example (and charge £3 extra for it) but say it wouldn’t actually be gf because of all the flour in the kitchen. Nice pub, but don’t go there if you require a gf meal, including a salad (😳) if you want to enjoy a nice, relaxing meal out with friends. We ended up relocating to The Bathurst Arms, who were able to feed us safe gf meals. 🤔

An overnight stay with breakfast at this wonderful find nestled in the Cotswolds. Our room was beautifully presented and very comfortable and we had a sound sleep having travelled from Heathrow and a long haul flight. Breakfast was served by a lovely young lady who was helpful, friendly and cheerful. A full English is a must! Cooked to perfection and really tasty. I would recommend The Stump wholeheartedly - it is clearly popular judging by how busy it was when we arrived in the evening.
