It is expected that vehicles either have chains or using snow tires as required by CHP to travel into the mountains when it snows. Welcome to Hickory Pines Lodge, a charming cabin perched high in the hills of Lake Arrowhead. Inside the residence you’ll find vintage collections and casual, camp-style decorating that will take you back to a simpler time. The large deck and spacious living spaces make this a perfect destination for your vacation getaway. Amenities include a full kitchen, washer/dryer and baby gear which makes it a very family friendly locale. Enjoy a BBQ on the deck in the summer and sledding in the winter. Lake Access: Yes! Our guests have access to the lake and trails! See below for more details!The cabin accommodates a max of 8 adults, not including children. We provide a Pack N' Play, if there are more infants you will need to bring extra equipment. 9 people total (Infants do not count). We recommend bringing your own bedding for the Pack N' Play. Ours comes with a mattress and sheets so your baby will be comfortable. Please reach out to me during your stay if you will be using our Pack N' Play so I can send you a how to video on how to set it up. We are a pet friendly cabin. We require our guests to disclose this before your stay. Guests who bring pets will be charged an additional cleaning fee. If you bring a dog without disclosing you will still be charged the cleaning fee. Guests must pick up after their dog and discard waste properly. Please make sure your pets are house trained as well. Our deck has a retractable baby gate so your pet is free to roam safely. We also have doggy bowls so you don't need to bring your own. No more than two pets allowed in the cabin. Please be advised that our cleaners charge an extra $75 fee for (1) pet and $100.00 for (2). Please note our cabin is an A frame cabin. Due to high ceilings our top floor may take time to cool down in the summer and warm up in the winter. We have central air conditioning and heating in the cabin. In addition we have provided fans in each room for those warm summer nights, and lots of blankets and space heaters in the winter. BBQing is only permitted in the designated BBQ provided by our cabin! Please leave your own BBQ'S at home. We do not allow personal BBQ's as it is a liability. Our fireplace is wood-burning, firewood can be purchased from the local grocery stores, there is no gas hook up to our fireplace so you will need a fire starter. Duraflame logs are perfect and can do the trick.Check out our new gas burning fire pit, lined with fire proof lava rocks. All you need is a lighter and you're ready to roast marshmallows by the fire. Please note you will NOT need fire wood for this. It is FORBIDDEN by San Bernardino county to have a real burning wood fire in the forest, which is why we have provided a gas fire pit. The county is VERY vigilant and fines can exceed to more than $20,000. We will not be liable if you light the forest on fire. DO NOT leave your children unattended by the fire. Adult supervision (18+) is required at all times. In the event of stormy/snowy weather, guests are advised to have AWD or 4 Wheel drive vehicles and carry chains or cables. We advise our guests to get Ice Melt from the local grocery store. Jensens is located down the street, and or Stater Brothers in The Village. The Ice Melt will help you incase of a snowstorm so you can get out of the driveway. We do have snow shovels and windshield scrapers, on the property for you to use as well located in the Build Up. We have sleds and snow toys available to our guests, no need to bring your own.This is the perfect cabin for all ages to include kids. We have included outdoor swings for infants and kids, highchairs, stroller, booster seats, kiddie plates and utensils! Our deck has a baby proofing gate as well.Guests will be able to access the entire property, with the exception of some storage located in our Build Up. Please note- ONE Car may be parked at the top of the property. Loading and unloading is fine. We have additional parking spaces located in the half circle driveway at the bottom of the property. We ask our guests to park multiple cars at the bottom of the property. Electric vehicles: There are charging stations available in the Lake Arrowhead Village. If you do charge your vehicle at the property, please expect that we will charge an additional 30.00 fee to your reservation.Our cabin is close to nature and is no stranger to cute critters! We are visited frequently by foxes, squirrels, and deer oh my! Please note be BEAR AWARE. Do not leave ANY food items in your car!Our cabin is ideal for large groups. The new process is convoluted and overly complicated, and will cost money, but is better than nothing (access had been blocked for almost 2 years!). Please note the beach that you will access is not the beach clubs, but swimming areas that STR guests are allowed to access. If you’d like to visit local beaches or hike trails around the lake, please let us know by following these steps:1. Send us names and email addresses of anyone over 18 who would like to visit the beaches or hike the trails during your stay. We will pre-register you with the ALA office. If you forgot to tell us or left someone off the list, don’t worry; you can add everyone later. Kids don’t need to register but will still need a wristband (see below).2. When you’re ready to hit the beach or trails, visit the ALA Client Services office to process registrations. The office is located at 870 State Highway 173, Lake Arrowhead CA. The office hours are 7 days per week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. 3. Anyone 18 or older must show photo ID and sign the ALA safety rules and waiver document. If you forgot to tell us about someone before, this is when you can register them.4. Everyone registered must wear a wristband available for 1-day, 3-day or 7-day periods for $10 per day per person. Children under 18 years of age will be issued free wristbands for the same periods of time as the accompanying adults.I will send you specific instructions for parking and gate access as well.We’re sorry about all this fuss and are working to simplify the process, but for now this is the only way to visit Lake Arrowhead beaches and trails. There are only a handful of homes on this private road, which is paved to just past the cabin. Yet, the cabin is well located near yearlong fun at Sky Park at Santa's Village (only 1.3 miles away), plus shopping and summer concerts at Lake Arrowhead Village (also only 1.3 miles away). The cabin is surrounded by pine, cedar, and dogwood trees, in the area described as the "Alps of Southern California". The dogwoods are particularly beautiful in the spring (typically late April through May) when they bloom and in fall when their leaves change colors (typically in October). The forest is home to all sorts of wildlife. Native mountain critters include coyotes, bobcats, black bears, grey squirrels, chipmunks, ground squirrels, raccoons, foxes, and mountain lions. Birds in our mountains include the Steller’s, Quail, Ducks, Western Tanager, Northern Tanager, Wood Peckers, Chickadees, Barn Owls, Bald Eagles, and hawks.Other things to note:Absolutely no smoking inside or anywhere outdoors in the area due to severe fire danger. (Vaping OK). You are responsible for yourself and your guests. A minimum additional fee of $50 will be charged if evidence of smoking is found.We are taking a number of cleaning measures during the Covid situation: 1) we are doing all of the cleaning ourselves to avoid additional unknown vectors and are ourselves fully vaccinated; 2) we are spraying all non-porous surfaces (including the lockbox, door knobs, kitchen drawer knobs, light switches, etc) with a solution consisting of >70% ethanol (shown to kill Covid within 30 sec); 3) we are washing all bedding, including the duvet covers, between guests; 4) we are fully airing out the cabin between guests. We are also keeping up with research literature and local and CDC guidelines.The turn-off onto the street is sharp and somewhat steep.We are happy to welcome your furry family. Any pets need to be disclosed and approved. The pet fee is $50+VRBO fees for up to 2 dogs for the length of your stay. Dogs should not be left unsupervised in the small dog run as wild animals can easily jump the fence. Dogs must be house-trained and may not be left alone at the property. If you go out, you must take your pets with you (if they are crate trained and you bring your own crate(s), that is ok). Cats or additional dogs can be approved on a case-by-case basis and additional fees may be required. The cabin is permitted by San Bernardino County for short-term stays. The permit number is CESTRP-2021-00304. The permit allows for a maximum of 6 overnight guests, two additional day-time guests, and two vehicles, which must be parked in the parking area immediately in front of the cabin. Parking on the street is not allowed as per the San Bernardino County rental ordinance. Additional guests and vehicles are not permitted. Any fines levied by San Bernardino County for violations of the rental ordinance will be your responsibility. An additional charge of $50/day/person above 6 will also be charged.Notify us of any changes to your guest list at least 48 hours prior to arrival.Snow and Ice - come prepared. Chains are sometimes required on the mountain roads and needed to make it to our cabin. Weather can be unpredictable in the mountains and chains should be carried in the winter months. The road in front of our cabin is private and may take some time for it to be plowed. On occasion, you may need to park on the next street down and walk up to our cabin. However, access might then be difficult for people who are mobility challenged. Be prepared to remove snow and ice from your vehicle. Also, some snow shoveling may be necessary.Damages - you are responsible and will be charged for any damages. You are expected to leave the property in a similar shape as when you arrived. Normal cleaning (bedding, floor, bathroom, etc) takes under two hours. If excessive cleaning is required (well beyond 2 hours), you will be charged $50/ additional hour. For those with approved pets who have paid the pet fee, an additional hour of cleaning is already included.Attend to any stains (e.g. red wine, blood, etc) immediately. Applying a little hydrogen peroxide (stored under the bathroom sink) on the affected areas does wonders. After the stain has set, it can be time-consuming or impossible to clean. Also, wipe up any standing water on the wood floors immediately.The checkout time is 11a.
