Booked for one night mid June, as we needed somewhere to rest after using the Dover to Dunkirk ferry, travelled at this point 8 hours and had a further 6 to go. This was booked months in advance, on arrival we found that we couldn't park near the hotel as barriers had been put across the roads. Walked to it from the town square and was advised a rock concert was in progress outside the hotel, I asked how long this was for and told it was 1 o'clock in the morning, lost for words we were given the keys to our room and was told it should be quiet as building next door. This was a lie as it was just as noisy. They had put us on the top floor and the temperature in the room was 32 degrees, noticing the air conditioner I tried to get it to work with no luck, I then called reception and asked if they could help, the response was “its only June” we don't turn them on to later in the year, bear in mind this was the hottest day of the year so far. Having the window open wasn't an option due to the noisy rock music coming from outside in a disgraceful French accent. The music did stop just after 1 o'clock, but the drunks hung around for what seemed forever after. Then we realised that opening the window would let the light in about 4.30 in the morning due to no curtains just a shutter on the inside that wouldn't close once the window was open. On checking my emails some days later they had emailed me advising of the disruption the same day we had stayed! Great notice. I paid the bill in the morning, refusing the £22 they wanted for breakfast as I wasn't going to give the a penny more that what I needed to. To sum in up, very very bad customer service, poor planning and advising customers way to late to make alternative arrangements. Out of all the hotels booked on our European road-trip this was the worst by a mile.
