Copthorne Solway Park, Wairarapa

Room was clean and large. The food is outstanding, I can honestly say there quality is next to none, hats off to the Chef. The Gym and Pool are awesome. I’m glad I had to come here for business and experience this place. Thank you

Terrible, entrance to unit dirty and unkempt As been biking looking nice forward to hot bath - mould around bath edging Place need complete overhaul My advise stay somewhere else Can’t believe the Copthorne brand could allow the standard of a so called 4* hotel to drop to this level

Was a little put off at check in as the whole entrance way ( shown in their first picture on here ) was almost hidden due to being covered in scaffolding - a little daunting walking through it all. The whole complex was under renovation of some kind with pockets of tradesmen scattered around the place. The roadway to my room around the back of the complex was shocking, massive potholes in a couple of areas that you could not avoid and my car is very low so that was another tense moment. Large parking space outside room. Large room, too big for one person, had two double beds and plenty of room around them but this is their minimum size, clean, bright and modern. The bed was very good which is quite a change from other places I've stayed in. Two entry points with key card locks, one out to car park and the other into the never ending somewhat confusing hallway. Huge complex to walk around, they have an awesome gym and heated indoor pool. The first night our group was told the restaurant would be open, it was not and the bar didn't open until around 5pm so I had a long wait from check in until everyone arrived and the bar opened. Good bar food. Shower over bath, the drain in the bath was blocked so I had a mini bath for two mornings until they eventually fixed it, the shower head pressure was way too low for me but did the job. Dinner was a bit limited in choice but was cooked well and very presentable. Apart from the roadway, unless you have a four wheel drive or are around the front areas, my stay was overall very good.

Awesome complex! Such a big resort, two swimming pools (sadly the inside one was out of action while we were there but the outside one was wonderful & not too cold!) the kids play area is a real treat the kids loved it. Rooms are spacious and loved that they have a front and back door (one to the carpark and one to the hotel hallway) very handy!! Complex is quite outdated on the exterior but updated inside the rooms. Great stay !!

Visited The Grill for dinner expecting fine dining given the Copthorne reputation and the prices. Ordered the steak medium, arrived well done, cheap cut which I couldn't get my knife through as it was tough and sinewy. Mash was tasteless and veg almost raw. Complained and was offered a free desert which they then decided to charge us for when we came to pay saying that they had reduced the price of the mains instead - I asked to see a receipt and noted that they had instead taken only $5 off eaxh steak when the deserts were actually $20 each. Eventually took a bit more off but still not the entire cost of the so called free deserts. Poor form guys - worst meal ever - will definitely not return.

We have stayed with the solway many times now, and every time was fantastic, but this time we were disappointed. They didn't have much to offer in room service as this is what we always get when we stay with them. this time it was very over priced for what they offered and what we got. no information booklet in the room of whats on offer, only 1 knife, one teaspoon...? they also really need to look at upgrading the kitchen facilities, perhaps a microwave and knifes and forks etc... we stay in the executive suite every time so would expect to have this type of stuff available to clients will definitely be back as we do love the place, just a few things need to be looked at.....especially the food???

Nice location, but hotel is very tired in need of some serious renovation. The rooms are very tired also, but bedding is adequate and they still supply plenty of tea and coffee ( Assorted) and toiletries. The restaurant used to be a real treat, I have been visiting for over 10 years, This visit $17 for 5 pieces of Calamari ( and it was over cooked!) for entree We also ordered the grilled bread $14, , in the past it has been different types, this time just grilled ciabatta bread Very poor Steak was good but price has really gone up 3 stars currently

Very very run down tired hotel. We wouldn’t go back (while it’s in it’s current state) but the kids did have a great time thanks to the indoor pool. Cleanliness was a massive issue but this could be due to staffing issues (kids couldn’t use the toilet by the pool due to the state of it - when I informed the staff they said cleaners were coming that evening…). The restaurant was disappointing, I didn’t eat my meal. The pizzas from the bar though were yummy! All the staff were lovely. This place has potential but just needs some love…..

My second time staying here. Spacious double room, with two comfy, queen beds. Heat pump heated room well. Shower had good pressure and no problems with hot water. We had the cooked and continental buffet breakfast and thought it was fine. Would happily stay here again.
