We highly recommend it. The warm reception was informative, there was good wifi, and good tips for hiking nearby trails. The shared spaces were comfortable and welcoming. Great stone fireplace in the lounge. Breakfast was included and there were many cold options. Our room was large with a private bath, king bed, and a comfy reading chair. There were great views of the forest through the windows. As an environmentalist I was pleased with their efforts to reduce waste, and the unpaved drive in and parking lot didn’t have potholes. Thanks for a lovely visit.

Stayed in a bunk room this past weekend for a couple of days skiing the loaf. The bed was super comfortable, breakfast was great (awesome banana bread and pecan muffins, and other bagels and homemade bread, etc.) The other guest were cool to chat with too. Definitely will be back. Sugarloaf truly is the king of spring and the hostel worked out perfectly.

We had a lovely one night stay at this Inn. Although they do have traditional hostel style rooms where you can reserve a bunk, we booked the family suite as it was all that was left with a private bathroom. In my mind this is more of an Inn than a hostel. Check in was easy and quick. We were shown around the shared facilities, kitchen, living room areas and the honour system little shop. Our room was great with lots of windows and a super comfy queen bed. There were also 2 single beds which we did not use. There was carpeting, I'm usually not a fan, but it was super clean and made the room very quiet. We brought our own dinner and used the shared kitchen facilities to heat it up. Lots of dishes to use and people are asked to clean up their own things after. Lots of books, board games and puzzles to enjoy. Our only disappointment was that coffee was not available until almost 7h30am. Should we go back, I'd bring some instant as we are up by 6 and like our morning java. A simple breakfast was included, scrambled eggs, toast, bagels, cereal, yogurt, fruit and OJ. Coffee once ready was very good. There is a shuttle available to get to the ski hill but we did not use it.

We recently returned from a long weekend in Maine. For the first time, I stayed in a hostel that I can honestly say far exceeded my expectations. The Hostel of Maine (H.o.M.E.) welcomes visitors "HOME." Secluded in the woods off Route 27 in Carrabassett Valley, the hostel is just down the road from Sugarloaf with its excellent skiing and golfing. Upon entering, you immediately feel welcomed as if you've walked into an old fashioned parlor, furnished with comfortable seating and a plethora of board games. The main level includes a large dining area where you can store and cook your own meals. In the morning a homemade continental breakfast is provided to start your day with a smile. Also on the main level are two spacious bunk rooms, each with its own full bath. On the upper level there are several queen or king bedrooms, each with its own private bath and comfortable seating in case you choose to linger a bit to read or catch up on your social media (or,hopefully not, work). The hostel is pet friendly and immaculately clean. Justin and Melanie, the hosts, are genuine, down to earth, and very personable and informative. Our only regret was that we had not planned for a longer stay, To remedy that, we are planning to return during the upcoming ski season and bring along a few friends so they can share in the ambiance of H.o.M.E. in Carrabassett Valley where visitors are greeted by a welcome sign proclaiming, "From here on your life will never be the same."
