I booked three rooms for my family based on the pictures advertised on the website- the website describes the rooms as - Val du Charron’s 4 star Guesthouse invites young and old, business and leisure travellers to enjoy the beauty of the Cape winelands with all the convenience you would expect from luxury accommodation. With 18 en suite rooms each with its own balcony, you can soak in the views while you enjoy a cold drink from the minibar or a gourmet coffee from the in-room drinks station- What hogwash! The views are wonderful from most rooms- provided that these rooms are allocated to you! Unfortunately the views are the only good thing I can say about Val Du Charron. We were given room 28 and I will attach pictures of the view from our balcony. Only after kicking up one helluva fuss were we moved to room 21. We experienced multiple issues with the hotel- the manager Evans was not very helpful at all. I invited him for a drink on our balcony , asked him to sit down and comment on our view. He agreed with me that the view was dismal! Looking at green pipes, a dilapidated building and heatpumps! I have attached pictures. To mention a few observations- no water was provided in our rooms, apparently it is only given to the 5 star room guests and not the 4 star room guests - room 2 did not have a fridge- no mini bar in any of our rooms -the curtain fittings are old and tired! For a 4 star hotel , everything is tired, even the flowers displayed were wilted, I will post a picture of this. -the balcony is dirty and furniture and railing rusted 21, picture attached - I booked three rooms together- were were allocated rooms 2 and 3 - why did I get the WORST room- room 28- in the hotel? Only room 8 on the ground floor can be worse than room 28 -Evans confirmed to me that he made reservation at the Pizza Vista on the same premises. When I got there, no booking was made?? More opinions about the Pizza Vista will be posted separately and the poor management there! - a 4 star hotel that does not offer cappuccinos or latte`s as part of the breakfast menu- TERRIBLE! It must be paid for, ie. additional costs !! - your breakfast menu is so restrictive- I advise the Val Du Charron management to go to the Knysna Quays hotel, the Tulbagh Boutique hotel, Sky Villa hotel, Excelsior wine estate accommodation or even the Jan Harmsgat in Swellendam to ask what they offer for breakfast! This to me is a severe shortcoming and the Val Du Charron should go and learn from the aforementioned establishments. - I had to laugh when we were asked to present breakfast vouchers by Evans- that is so archaic- last experienced that more than a decade ago -common courtesy and decency it would have been for the hotel management to call me and explain that room 28 is not like the 18 rooms they advertised- this amounts to false advertising A most disappointing stay and the place needs to pull themselves together. To call themselves a 4 and 5 star establishment and perform so po
