I booked a “Mountain view room” at the Twelve Apostles Hotel (an expensive upgrade), and it proved how important it is to read the small print. It claims, “impressive views from your balcony”. From inside the room, it is almost impossible to see the “mountain”. The balcony is only just big enough for a small table and two chairs, and you have to take it in turns to see the “mountain” as only one chair faces in that direction. Another problem with the non-views inside the room is the permanent misting of the double glazing, where the seal between the two sheets of glass has failed. The three sets of floor-to-ceiling windows have wooden shutters that are ineffective at blocking the light from outside. With sunrise at about 05:30am, your room is flooded with light, making sleeping difficult without a blindfold. The sea-facing public rooms are smart, but my room looked dated. The staff are well meaning, but rarely get it right first time. You ask for cold milk, you get hot, you ask for Earl Grey tea, you get English Breakfast, you ask reception for the bottle of water the people servicing the room should have provided, and no-one brings it. The face flannels in the bathroom only get replaced sometimes. The tea bags and the coffee capsules in the room don’t get replaced…and someone comes to check the room has been serviced properly, and they don’t notice the errors either. It's a fabulous location with impressive sea views, but the food does not match. The sushi was soggy, the “fine dining tasting menu” – tuna tartare, mushrooms, roast chicken – with more mushrooms, venison, and dessert was neither fine nor very tasty. The Leopard Bar was the stand-out exception, and the breakfast was good, if they decide to take your order. I had to get up from the table and ask more than once. For the single traveller (I was avoiding Christmas for reasons I need not go into), the ‘do not disturb’ sign actually said “We’re still sleeping”, and the turn-down service (on request), provided two sets of slippers and dressing gowns, just to rub it in! (If you have to request it, surely they can see the room is single occupied. ”No plans on Christmas Day?!” was another insensitive question asked with incredulity. The last day was like the others. I was given a different room to shower in after my check-out time, a standard room that was much nicer than my supposedly more expensive upgraded room! When I opened the door, two room service staff were relaxing in two chairs. “Wrong room” they said. I said “The key wouldn’t open the door if it’s the wrong room!” (The room number was also written on the card holder.) They looked puzzled but left. “Phone reception when you want me to collect your bags” the helpful porter said. I called. No reply. I waited and called again “We’ll send someone straight away.” Ten minutes later, nothing. I called again, no reply. I had a plane to catch, so I went to reception. “Sorry, we only have one porter. L'hotel è situato proprio accanto a dove si prende il ”Hop on Hop off bus” che è molto bene. È tra ”Green Market Square” e la strada ”Long Street” In questa piazza si mettono da tempo i punti di vendita artigianali. Ho letto lamentele sul rumore al mattino quando montano i posti (poiché devono montare presto e smontare a partire dalle 5 pm) ma non è in realtà fastidioso. Ho avuto una cattiva esperienza, perché alle 7:00 sono stato rubato in strada tra l'hotel e la chiesa che dà alla Plaza. Mi hanno rubato il mio telefono cellulare. Ci sono molte persone che chiedono di comprare loro cibo o di dar loro cibo, siate molto attenti. Il personale dell'hotel è molto gentile e servizio. Le camere sono di base. Il letto è comodo, il bagno è un po' stretto, non molto comodo. Il giorno del mio check-out non c'era nessuno nella reception dell'hotel a servizio. Erano le 5:50 am. C'era un gruppo che arrivava per fare il check-in, ma non c'era peso in reception per rispondere a loro. La piscina è piccola, è sul lato, ma la zona è davvero molto piccola. Il ginnastica conta con il basso. La colazione è corretta, frutta, uova, tagli freddi, formaggi, pane e cereali. Puoi sederti sulla terrazza o all'interno. Anche il pane senza glutine a richiesta.

Abbiamo alloggiato in questo hotel all'inizio del nostro viaggio in Sud Africa questo agosto. L'hotel è nel V&A waterfront, quartiere molto turistico e commerciale, pieno di centri commerciali e ristoranti, ben collegato con le principali attrazioni della città. L'ambiente è giovanile e i ragazzi della reception sono disponibili e alla mano, la stanza è ampia e con un letto comodo. Unica pecca, che determina il nostro giudizio, è il fatto che ci fossero dei lavori di ristrutturazione in corso nell'hotel che hanno reso impossibile riposare il pomeriggio per i rumori e il trapano assordante; siamo usciti per la disperazione. Nel nostro caso poi i lavori erano proprio nello stesso piano quindi fino almeno alle 4 pm in stanza non si poteva stare, era da impazzire. Per il livello della catena alberghiera non mi sarei aspettata una cosa simile. Se non fosse stato per questo aspetto il giudizio sarebbe stato positivo su tutti i fronti.

It was very nice and familiar. The house is in a very quiet location. It is only an 8 minute walk to the main street where there are many restaurants and shops. It's a 10-minute walk to the sea. Liesl was my angel of Cape Town. She has helped me so much with booking activities and ordering Uber drivers. And it was every morning nice to drink a Coffee. Thank you!!!!

La posizione dell'hotel è molto buona, il centro della città, sotto i piedi della tavola, c'è un sacco di parcheggio a pochi minuti da molti musei Art Museum, ci sono un sacco di parcheggi, e il proprio ristorante e bar. È possibile godere di cibo a casa. La spazzatura è piccola e la notte c'è un vento climatizzato, e un po'di dispiacere.

A wonderful place to stay. The owners have a very special place here. Lovely room with views out to the ocean. So peaceful and quiet. The stairs up to the property with lovely mosaic features. Would love to stay again as one night wasn't enough. An honesty fridge with cold drinks and snacks was great.
