You won't hear about this on sites like *********** because people can only leave a review once their stay has been completed. If you get stitched up at the very last minute, the world won't hear about it. But here's what happened to us: Our travel date: 12th March. Up until then: Booked room: 24th February. I email to request slightly earlier check-in: 8th, 9th, 10th March Numerous calls to request check-in time/clarify key drop arrangements: 8th, 9th March (several times, no answer). Tried withholding my mobile number and called: 10th March - this time, she answers, and I'm told 'I won't know if you can check in early until the day you arrive, but everything is fine'. No further answer to my calls. I check with several booking websites and it appears that the same property has been booked for a two-night stay on the 12th and 13th. Funny, I thought - we're only there on the 12th. Four hours before check-in: chirpy message arrives (see accompanying pic) to tell us we've got nowhere to stay, There is no offer to find us alternative accommodation, despite it being a 'bathroom leak' and part of their responsibility to guests to do so. I knew immediately it was a lie, and that they'd stitched us up to take a more lucrative booking. Totally left us in the lurch and with a hugely bigger bill than we were supposed to have. Don't book here unless you're happy to chance the same thing happening to you.
