Quinta Alegre

This place is a garden of Eden, it is Paradise. From the moment we arrived, we lowered our shoulders, took a deep breath - and relaxed. For once it actually is like the pictures! This is a small hotel, with only ca. 20 rooms, and not 200! Quite and mostly hikers! Everything is very clean: the room, the towel, the linen, the restaurant, the terrasse and the pool, which is cleaned and checked every morning at sunrise. The bed was very comfortable, the madras very good for my back. The room was spacious and nice furnished, with a beautiful view and with mosquito netting, so we had the window always open. The food is delicious: the breakfast with daily variation of different bread (full-grain! ), fruits, eggs, dishes..... and homemade marmalade! We enjoyed the 3 course dinner menue, where we could choose between fish, meat or vegetarian everyday, and we were never disappointed, it was delicious. And the most of the food is from their own organic garden, which we were generously guided through by the owner. The whole sustainability concept is amazing, in every detail! The solar power, the sewer systems of recycling for the garden, even the lunchpackage is reusable bottles and cans! For hiking it is the best option on Madeira. The staff is very friendly, helpful and doing everything they can for you. The location is perfect. The best is the atmosphere and the garden, we woke up to birds singing, breakfast under banana tree in the sunrise, the tranquility of the garden, swimming in the pool and dinner in the sunset in the garden.

Quinta Alegre is absolutely what we were looking for. We based ourselves here for our walking holiday. Reception staff were very welcoming and I instantly felt relaxed upon arrival in this little piece of paradise. Our spacious, sea view room was bright, fresh and very clean. Website photos don’t show the new cream coloured curtains and bedspreads yet which are lovely. As well as having a sea view rooms also overlook the most beautifully kept garden and pool. Side rooms without sea view have lovely views of the garden. Shower had lots of power and there was hot water at all times. At dinner you can opt for the set 3 course menu or choose from the a la carte. Food was outstanding and made freshly everyday with local produce. Jams and preserves all made in hotel’s kitchen. Some vegetables and herbs were from the hotel’s own vegetable garden. The hotel guests are mainly walkers and people who enjoy nature and the outdoors. Exchanging walks and tips with fellow guests was very enjoyable in the evenings. We opted for 2 organised walking tours offered by the hotel. Both guides were friendly, knowledgeable and multilingual and we learned so much about the flora and fauna as well as the island in general. When walking independently Levada Nova is a 45 minute walk uphill from hotel. Lastly the amazing staff make this hotel so special who work hard to ensure all their guests have a wonderful holiday. So well done to everyone, it is very much appreciated. Quinta Alegre surpassed my expectations in every way and we can’t wait to return.

Tolle Lage und Blick, schöne Zimmer und Garten, leckeres Essen (teilweise aus dem eigenen Garten), tolles nachhaltiges, plastikfreies Konzept (die Tuberware für das Lunchpaket konnte man abends wieder abgeben. Man kann sich Elektronautos ausleihen). Das einzige, was gefehlt hat, war eine Trockenmöglichkeit für die Badesachen.

Gastronomia Regional aprimorada com boa apresentação e degustação apelativa com verduras da Quinta. Ambiente acolhedor, serviço simpático. Serviço por marcação e receção simpática ao chegar. Jardim simpático com vista para o mar e tudo muito bem cuidado.

Sehr schönes Hotel in dem ökologische Grundsätze umgesetzt werden. Das Hotelkonzept ist gut. Das Essen wird zum großen Teil selbst angebaut. Das Essen war lecker und die Betten bequem, die Zimmer groß. Wir hatten eine Wanderreise gemacht. Alles war sehr gut organisiert. Das Luchpaket, dass wir erwerben konnten erhielt immer belegte Brote, ein Stück Kuchen, Obst und Salat. Die Boxen für den Salat und das Besteck waren wieder verwendbar, es gab Wasser in einer Wieder verwendbaren Flasche.

Das Quinta Alegre ist ein Hotel, in dem man sich sofort wohlfühlt und auch nach einem anstrengenden Reisetag gleich "ankommt". Das junge Personal ist ausgesprochen freundlich und aufmerksam, die Hotelanlage ist sehr gepflegt, die Zimmer haben die richtige Größe, Frühstück und Abendessen sind sehr gut, Parkplätze sind vorhanden. Solarenergie, Wärmepumpen und ein eigener großer Garten zeigen, dass sich die Hotelleitung auch investiert, um klimaneutrale Resourcen zu nutzen.
