Hotel in zona Avatamsaka Monastery, Calgary

The hotel is old, the location is convenient to walk to the downtown. Few restaurants around the hotel but the convenience shop downstairs only open few hours. The room is average so not too big. Our water was not hot enough so the manager changed another room for us, so the issue resolved on spot, thank you so much. Overall experience was good.

Show that you care! The hotel is new, beautiful and well located. The breakfast room is impressive with its size, tall ceilings, views and terrace. The breakfast itself is great with its variety, including waffles and a delicious South Asian(?) vegetable stew each day. The suites are large and well equipped, and the bed comfortable. Now if only the staff could treat customers a bit better. We paid $30 for underground parking, which was important to us because we got an upgraded rental car and were liable for it. On the second day, the garage was completely full, with more cars entering the garage - thanks to a broken capacity indicator that permanently shows 208 spaces. Staff basically blamed it on the fact that the garage is a private facility unrelated to the hotel. They sent us to two nearby surface lots. One was only available till 8:00 at a cost of $22.52. The second one was a dirt field. 1. I don’t care whose lot it is. You sold me access to it at an extortionate price and did not mention any other options, implicitly endorsing it. 2. Don’t sell more spaces than you have, especially at that price. 3. Know and explain options. Don’t direct your customers to a lot that only sells space till 8:00 for over 3 times the price as the next lot. You are wasting my time. Then at 4:00 am, we were woken up by a loud motor noise coming from the fridge. We had to move it and unplug it (it’s a full size fridge, not a hotel fridge). The clerk’s reaction? “Sorry about that, I’ll tell maintenance.” We had one night parking taken off the bill. No consideration for the hassle both from the parking and the fridge. You can do better. Better policies, better communication and a bit more generosity. Overall, not a good experience.

Tutto circa il nostro soggiorno era di prima vista. La stanza era immacolata e aveva tutto quello che ci serviva. Tutto il personale che abbiamo incontrato sia all'ufficio frontale, al bar, al ristorante o al ristorante erano molto amichevoli e si assicuravano che tutte le nostre esigenze fossero soddisfatte. L'hotel è situato molto vicino alla fermata della City Hall LRT, quindi viaggiare intorno alla città è stato molto conveniente come abbiamo deciso di non noleggiare un'auto in questo viaggio. A cautela, tuttavia, questa posizione non è nel ‘corpo’ del centro, quindi abbiamo trovato un po’ limitato se volete andare a fare un giro per negozi, ristoranti, ecc.. Spent 5 nights here and was very pleased. Staff were, without exception, pleasant, friendly, helpful and welcoming. Room was spacious and well-equipped. Restaurant/bar served good range of food and drinks. Reasonably priced and tasty. One thing which puzzled me was that, having paid for breakfast in advance, I was left to serve myself from the drinks and buffet area. I had no problem whatsoever in doing so. However, over the course of several breakfasts, I noticed that a few other guests were served by the waiting staff. It was not clear why this was. The hotel has pleasant decor and good facilities, including pool and gym. However, it is slightly puzzling why it is called Holiday Inn:Calgary Airport, as it is not in close proximity to the airport in the manner one would usually expect. Which leads me to the only problem I have with this hotel; its shuttle bus. The IHG app indicated that a shuttle bus was available. Indeed, it provided information as to where the buses were to be found - with information relating to both international and domestic terminals. I went to the appointed place and waited and waited. No shuttle bus appeared. I was really keen to get to the hotel as I had arrived on an early morning flight from the U.S. Finally, after an hour, I called the hotel and spoke to someone who said he would transfer me to reception. The connection then dropped. At the same time, a driver from another hotel group informed me that one had to order the Holiday Inn shuttle. I telephoned again and, this time, was told that the shuttle bus would make its way to the airport to collect me. Which it did. By that time, I'd been standing outside the arrivals area for well over an hour. When I got to the hotel, reception staff told me that the requirement of ordering use of the shuttle in advance had been in place for about four years. That being the case, why for goodness sake doesn't the app, the website or the email one receives in advance of a stay tell people that! It was frustrating to the point of annoyance and really out of step with all other customer service/relations. I had the interesting experience of the hotel being evacuated one evening due to a fire alarm (found to be false). Staff seemed to handle the matter competently. It's reassuring that a Fire Station is very close by - much closer than the airport and the firefighters didn't have to wait for, or order, a shuttle bus.

L'hotel non ha restituito il nostro deposito CAD 180 anche se siamo sicuri che non abbiamo rotto nulla. Provato a chiamarli, ma ci hanno detto di chiamare alle 10, ma di chiamare di nuovo, perché siamo occupati di recente. La cena era grande e la stanza era pulita. Il personale della cucina era gentile, ma ci ha voluto molto tempo per riempire.Un tipo di cibo era tutto perso anche se era ancora presto (cartoline). Il personale del front desk era buono

We stayed just one night, but we were very pleased with everything. Location is very convenient to everywhere. The staff was very friendly and very eager to help. Everywhere we walked to in the hotel it was very clean, and we'll maintained. We ate dinner and in the morning breakfast both were very satisfying. I definitely recommend this hotel. Thanks to everyone.

At first five stars. Once we tried to catch some winks though, we found that we could not get comfortable. The sheets are stiff and unpleasantly unpleasurable. We slept poorly and felt tired even tomorrow (today). The bathroom was clean and glassy.
