Caen: hotel a 2 stelle

Hôtel dans quartier calme, literie très correcte, possibilité de se faire un petit café ou petite cuisine. Nous avons apprécié la petite terrasse pour les chambres en rez de chaussée. Un peu loin du centre ville de Caen, surtout quand on a beaucoup marché dans la journée, nous vous conseillons de vous stationner au port de plaisance où il y a de nombreuses places de parking. Excellent restaurant quartier Vaugueux : l'avenue 21. Le soir nombreux bars rue Ecuyere et place Saint Sauveur. Centre ville animé, nombreux commerces.

Hotel in pieno centro, molto pulito, stanza davvero spaziosa e luminosa, ben curata e nuova. Di fronte c’è un parcheggio coperto sotterraneo ma è possibile anche parcheggiare x strada (ore 19-9 non si paga). I titolari abitano al piano della reception, che chiude alle 20 e si accede al portone tramite codice. Succo, caffè, acqua e the disponibili ad ogni ora nella sala break/reception. Titolari cortesi (lui mi ha portato la valigia al piano, non essendoci ascensore). Buona colazione e ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo. Tutt’altro che un 2 stelle.. direi un ottimo 3 stelle!

This was a last minute and unplanned stay for us in Caen. We had two nights and needed to be very close to the train station as we had 4 large bags and didn’t want to be bothered with taxis. Pros: This is the closest hotel to the station. If it was any closer, it would have a train inside it. It’s proximity to the station is the one of the few good things about this hotel. The elevator is efficient and clean and took the two of us and 4 large bags - so there’s a second good point - the elevator. The supplied Body wash/Shampoo was plentiful and pleasant smelling. The linen was clean, we didn’t use housekeeping for our stay, just swapped towels, which were clean. we are actually scrapping the barrel for pros. Cons: The front resembles the facade of a 70's office block. The ground floor windows are blanked out. Given the dozen or so young men loitering about outside, (all day) that is probably a good thing. We stepped out of the elevator and were assaulted with two odours a) air freshener and b) cigarette smoke. This is a floor of non-smoking rooms. The room has minimal/no ventilation, the window has a a chain on it opening 3 inches / 8 cm to let air in. We specifically wanted twin beds as in our experience European double beds are lucky to be 140 cm wide. (which these were). Room 317 was a ‘triple’ - which is a double with a bunk slung above it. however, the bunk creaked with every movement. also the beds are incredibly firm and quite thin. The room was run down. The bathroom is run down and old. It was superficially clean, but the grout in the shower is old and yellow. Showering is another adventure. There was good pressure and copious hot water. The problems arise if you dare to shower in the morning or evening when everyone else is showering. Then you can have a safe and perfect water temperature - which changes to scalding hot in a second. Special mention: The breakfast was included in our rate but otherwise €7.50. It was underwhelming. In the land that invented and perfected the baguette, to not actually have any at breakfast was bad form. Everything is wrapped in plastic and highly sugared. The juice was highly sugared, the processed fruit salad was in plastic (pc) and not great. The only remotely healthy items were apples, oranges and yoghurt. The only cereal on offer was cornflakes or brown/chocolate flavoured cornflake equivalents (which would be perfect for children). Everything was cold and on the first morning there was no toaster. Having already received a complete lack of interest, there seemed no point asking if there was a toaster and if it was hidden away. But surprise, surprise, there was a large contingent of english speaking men at breakfast on Day 2 - and suddenly there was a toaster. The small, par baked rolls were slightly better when toasted and covered in jam. The square bread looked over processed, sugary and not actually worth trying or toasting. There were no wholemeal or grainy offerin

This is a great, simple little hotel. Welcoming and helpful staff. Very clean rooms. No sign of any bugs. I checked. My courtyard room was very quiet with some seagulls squawking nearby. It’s in the middle of town but still very peaceful and safe. My bed was not soft but still very comfortable. The breakfast was classic French, plentiful and tasty. There are lots of great sights and restaurants walkably close. Enjoy!

Molto buon posto per soggiornare e visitare Normandia. Le camere sono spaziose, pulite e tranquille. Il bagno è particolarmente comodo. Il personale è stato molto gentile e molto utile. Hanno risolto la mia bici e mi hanno prestato un socket per ricarre i miei dispositivi perché l'ho dimenticato nella mia casa.

Soggiornando in Hôtel François d'Ô, sarai proprio al centro di Caen, a soli 4 minuti a piedi da Maison des Quatrans e 5 minuti da Chiesa di San Pietro. Camera piccola ma pulita, bagno ampio e pulito, essendo al piano terra si sentivano molto rumori dai piani superiori, colazione buona, ristorante valido. Prezzi congrui. In complesso avremmo dato 3 stelle ma il personale alla reception merita una stella in più, in particolare Fabien nr.1 in simpatia e disponibilità.

Excellent in every way. Quick helpful reception. Extremely clean well appointed room. High level of security. Enclosed storage for bikes. Good value. I was rather concerned after I had made a booking after reading a review that complained that the bedding was not changed every day. Ignore this negativity, the People gets my vote for cleanliness. One observation. The windows in the bar/ pizza area could do with a polish. They seemed a little ‘ greasy’ in the setting sun. Apart from that minor comment, perfect. I have no connections with the People. I was an unnecessarily apprehensive visitor.

Pros: The location of the apt was central and convenient. Railway station approx. 15mins walk, plenty of restaurants nearby. The view from our room towards the church behind was great, especially in the evening. There were proper blinds for the windows, covering from the sun. The bed was good and we got a good sleep, no noise from the traffic. Cons: We paid extra for the bigger room, the promise was 20m2, but the room was clearly smaller, although the bathroom was quite big - not giving that much of the value. There was any table for eating, no kettle or coffee maker. The room did not have air-conditioning, but the air flowed well, when you opened the window in the room and the bathroom. Would recommend this hotel for a overnight stop-over.

Le camere sono molto pulite e belle. Il colazione era grande con diverse opzioni. La posizione era buona, facile da parcheggiare vicino e era vicino a diversi bar e ristoranti. E 'stato a soli 20 minuti a piedi dal centro storico. Raccomando questo hotel.
