We stayed here enroute to the Cotswolds. What a truly amazing outstanding hotel. I have stayed at many magnificent hotels around the world and in the UK but this was certainly on par with the best ‘ The room was stunning and had a huge fabulous bathroom, bed was really comfortable. We ate in the Restaurant and I was totally blown away by the level of service and food and amazing staff. Everything is so unique, and very special. I met with the owner who was charming to say the least. I wish we could have stayed longer in this amazing place. We will definitely be back.

The bedrooms were so well thought out - fresh homemade biscuits, charging station, lovely toiletries, comfortable pillows etc. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was some of the best….including the Gin and Tonic! There were plenty of walks from the door of the hotel, helpful maps to borrow and some great stop off points for recharging.

A most wonderful experience. We had been gifted an overnight stay complete with 6 course taster menu. Attention from staff was second to none; accommodation was unique, comfortable, & with great attention to detail; lounge area warm and relaxing; food was nothing short of amazing and we opted for the "wine pairing" too and so enjoyed little known wines which complemented each course. Excellent nights sleep; breakfast choice again extensive & delicious. Would love to think that we could return one day.

Credit to the owners for creating a very special place at Old Downton Lodge. The atmosphere is superb and you feel very valued as a guest. The room was lovely and very characterful with everything we needed, including home made cookies. We opted for the tasting menu and wine flight. This was a very high quality menu and was in our opinion easily on a par with some Michelin starred restaurants that we have eaten in. Overall a very special experience and we would have no hesitation in recommending it to others, and indeed we will be back. Thank you.

Absolutely fabulous in every way. We had a wonderful time, the food, the room and the ambience were everything we hoped for. We would also like to thank the staff. They really were superb. Hoping to visit again soon.

Our visit to Old Downton Lodge was incredible. From the peace and quiet of the surroundings, the walks in nature, through to the attentive staff, Michelin quality food (by anyone's standards) and our beautiful room, we had an amazing weekend stay. The attention to detail, and the little things, like each menu being printed, personalised for the guests. In the morning at breakfast, each room has a small info sheet personalised to them, and with the day's weather forcast and information on the local area, and walks etc. I can't recommend this place enough. We booked our second visit before leaving the first. Massive thank you to Willem, Pippa, Nick, and all the incredible team for a wonderful stay.

This is a beautiful property in a peaceful and picturesque setting. The rooms are tastefully and respectfully restored and very comfortable. The food was excellent and presented with great care. Above all the team were wonderful; everyone showed an unobtrusive interest in us and the service was impeccable. We will be returning.

Loved every aspect of our stay at Downton Lodge. Beautiful peaceful location, lovely staff, very comfortable bedroom with excellent shower and plenty of fluffy white towels in the spacious bathroom. The food in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious.
