Ballynahinch Castle Hotel

Beautiful castle and grounds. Had several nice areas to sit by the fire and have a cocktail. Dinner are the fisherman’s pub was so good, we had the fish and chips with the fish of the day, You need to book the restaurant when you book your room, the reservations fill up quickly , The room was probably the nicest one I’ve ever stayed in anywhere in the world. Bathroom shower was amazing , bed as well. Our room led to a patio over looking flowing water surrounding the castle. Lots of walking trails . I wish we had more than one night there. Breakfast was nice, cold options with also several hot made to order options all included with the room. It wasn’t cheap but well worth the experience

Scenic property with a lot of history and character. We chose one of the higher end rooms which was nice and large, and had an excellent view of the river. The fine dining restaurant was superb. Staff and service were very good. The walks and cycle tracks on the estate were excellent. One of our better stays anywhere.

Looking back on my stay at Ballylahinch Castle, I have only the fondest of memories. Everything about the stay was enjoyable from the efficient, friendly welcome to the leisurely walks around the Estate to the service in the restaurants and bar. There is a wonderful energy about the Castle. Our room opened out to the grass through a patio door which was so inviting and allowed easy access to pathways around the Castle. The grounds are so well kept, and you can tell there is a fantastic housekeeping / maintenance team behind the scenes doing a fantastic job. We drove into Clifden on one afternoon, which was a pleasant 15-minute drive. The lounge areas are lovely for reading / relaxing in. Although there is no spa, I did not miss it as the abundant nature offerings on the doorstep kept me well entertained. The room itself was very comfortable and spacious. Particularly liked the Voya amenities and a yoga mat was kindly provided on request. Can gladly recommend for those wishing to experience true Irish hospitality in a gorgeous Castle environment.

Ballynahinch is a one of a kind property. The setting is amazing and beautiful. The hotel is a rather smaller ran operation and not the big opulent castle hotel you might think of in Ireland. Our room overlooked the river and was adequate---not opulent but adequate. The staff at the hotel are wonderful. The manager in particular was extremely helpful and accommodating to us. This is not always true at Relaiz Chateau properties so this was refreshing. IMPORTANT to note that none of the rooms at this property have AC. We did not need it from a heat point of view when we were there as it was cold but it was risky with my wife's asthma. The property is a bit tired and could use some investment as carpet is worn, etc. The largest positive is the location on the river with GREAT walking trails and beautiful scenery. Connemara---the area of Ireland the castle is in is beautiful and worth the trip. The largest negative of the hotel was the food options. They have a bar for a la carte options. It was very loud when we were there. Irish tend to get loud when they drink so this was not enjoyable for us. The nice restaurant was OK but with limited menu options. The presentation was beautiful but the food itself was mediocre. Breakfast was good----again, not great but good. I do recommend this property and we would return simply because of the setting and beautiful surroundings.

We were a group of 6 adults, dining at the Owenmore Restaurant. The service, food and staff were exceptional . It can be difficult to get a booking, we were lucky and it was well worth the visit! Our group gad a mix of everything on the menu, which is seasonal, nothing disappointed. The quality and detail of preparation was obvious .

I had never been to Ireland before. The experience at this beautiful hotel, Ballynahinch Castle hotel, went beyond the highest of expectations I had of the hospitality of the Irish. Firstly, the hotel itself is just gorgeous, the beauty of nature is ever present, the breakfast was spectacular. But once again without the warmth and care of people, an experience in any hotel is never truly memorable for me. Oh my goodness, the people at this hotel. Bridg, Killian, Nile, Claire, Sharon, Martin, Michael, Roberto, Andre, Luis, Eoghan, Kieran, Louis, Shauna, Morija, Andrea and the others, I have missed. The fact that I took note of these people's names is indicative of the impression these beautiful people made on me. When you stay at this hotel, you feel as if you matter. This place has it all. We stayed two nights and loved it all. Everyone is very friendly, with their added Irish humor. Our room was extremely comfortable with a fabulous modern bathroom, nespresso maker, USB ports and great view of the trout river. We had three excellent meals in the pub. Enjoyed the property so much that we spent the whole day here, walking the trails and gardens. Great place to relax.

WORST seafood chowder & dried up with bread in Ireland! Gloopy Slimey & tasteless with small bits of fish ….very disappointed! The caramelised onion and brie sandwich on process sliced bread with a wilted salad, tasteless . Shame on you presenting such unattractive poor quality dishes in such elegant surroundings…..
