The Long Range

Lovely old fashioned guest house with clean but slightly dated ( furniture wise ) rooms. Our room was a great size. Fabulous attentive staff and a tasty breakfast. The only downside for us was that the springs in the mattresses on the twin beds protruded ( I think they were fairly old) and therefore the beds were a little uncomfortable. The owner assured us on departure that this problem would be attended to.

My wife and I have just returned from a lovely relaxing 3 night stay and can highly recommend this Hotel. On arrival, we were met by Brian who was very friendly and genuine. He showed us the areas within the hotel and also our room, number 5. The room was spacious with two big windows overlooking the back garden and The Otter Valley beyond. You could also see a glimpse of the sea. We slept with windows open and it was peaceful and quiet. The bathroom had a fantastic large power shower. The breakfast in the morning was a good choice of fruit, yoghurt and honey and the cooked food was how you liked it with whatever you fancied. We chose to eat breakfast outside and although a little chilly it was a lovely experience. The position of the hotel was a short 10-15 minute walk to the seafront all down hill. I am very familiar with this part of Devon however after spending 3 nights in Budleigh, we feel we overlooked a lovely laid back Devonshire seaside retreat. We would definitely return in the future. The b&b has a stunning view across the Otter Valley from the back bedrooms, and Brian was a very friendly host. The cooked breakfast was very tasty and the free parking in front of the building was welcome. Pack an eye mask if visiting in summer, as the curtains aren’t very thick, but it’s a very quiet place. The shower takes a while to warm up but persist as it does get there after a few minutes! Overall a lovely place from which to explore the area (including the beavers on the Otter which we were lucky enough to see).
