We stayed at the Shambaling hotel for multiple times over the years now and it is the hotel we return to when coming to Kathmandu. Certainly a bit more pricier than other options, but in our opinion well worth it. The hotel is located within walking distance of the Boudhanath stupa area and a bit outside the hectic city center. Great if you want to escape the crowds. The hotel staff is exceptionally friendly, the rooms are very nice and we always slept very well. The front desk is very helpful in getting information. We always had breakfast at the restaurant to start the day. There is also a spa and sauna, however we never went there. Overall, if you are looking for a more upscale hotel in Kathmandu a bit away from the crowds, the Shambaling is an excellent choice.

We had the pleasure of staying at this exceptional hotel for a total of 6 nights, and we couldn't be more thrilled with our experience. The puri or chapati and curry quickly became our favorites, perfectly complemented by the aromatic masala tea and the flavorful masala omelette – a true culinary delight! The hotel's al fresco dining experience was an absolute treat. The ambiance was charming, and the food left an indelible mark on our taste buds. With each meal, we explored a plethora of different dishes, each more tantalizing than the last. It's safe to say that the culinary offerings exceeded our expectations in every way. This made our visits to the stupa incredibly convenient and allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in its serene atmosphere. Very friendly service at front desk. The best feature of this hotel is the lovely well maintained tranquil garden situated in the center of the building. It was a pleasure to sip a capuccino from the cafe situated next to the garden. Unbelievable for us having not visited Kathmandu in 20 years the arrival of good coffee A very short and interesting walk takes you to the bustle and noise of the Stupa. The room was adequate but like many rooms at this price point the only place to sit was on the bed. Our room had A/C but fortunately did not need it. The bathroom was clean but hot water only came intermittently during our stay. Management were helpful and always tried to fix the problem. Wifi likewise was a bit hit and miss. Sheets were were on the thin side but typical of hotels at this price point in Asia. Overall would recommend.

Nice view from the room with Mountain View on the 7th floor. Bedsheets and towels changed daily, water bottles provided everyday for free. Very nice staff. Good breakfast. Very convenient 24h room service if you need anything to eat or drink in the middle of the night.

Siamo stati al gokarna dopo 12 giorni di trekking in alloggi non troppo comodi, arrivare qui è stato un po’ un sogno, tranquillità, relax ( piscina e spa, quest ultima a pagamento) camere belle e pulite, ristorante abbastanza buono. Ho giocato anche a golf, il campo non è stupendo però è tenuto abbastanza bene, i green un po’ lenti, con noleggio attrezzature e palline ho speso circa 110€ per giocare, diciamo che 80€ sarebbe stato un prezzo più giusto.:. Comunque nel complesso, ottima esperienza, avanti così.

The location of the hotel is unbeatable, its located just inside the main square. Room was comfortable and clean. The focal point of the property is its view of the durbar square from the rooftop. The staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Was able to make a video. Cannot post that one on Trip app. For this trip to Nepal, I had a driver scheduled ahead of time to make the drive up there in the dark easier. Pay extra if they stay or go down. No need to leave the property, but lovely locals in both road directions. It seems lots of people take their motorbikes up. There’s even college students and bus groups. Some vacant and less expensive hostels, but this location has everything needed. I think it’s a good night or two to stay. I arrived dinner and stayed two nights. All employees wonderful. Binod said Hotel can help arrange driver, but the bus also comes up. Sunrise depends on fog. Good either way.
