We went to Villa La Selva Wine Resort for a wedding towards the end of May arriving at 12:00 noon on Thursday 25 May 2023. We were aware that we were unable to check in until 2:00p.m. which was fine. However, I did feel that although we were unable to check in, it might have been a nice idea to have provided us with a much 'warmer' welcome - i.e., offering the guests a drink, not necessarily an alcoholic drink (although that would have been nice!!) but just a 'welcome' drink. After all, there were approximately 18 of us at the villa at this stage, we were there for a very special occasion, therefore I would have thought that the staff on duty would have made so much more of an effort to welcome us as their guests. We felt, not being able to check in, we were just left to our own devices sitting in reception. A couple of us then asked if there was any chance, we could have a drink whilst we were waiting only to be told that until we were checked in, we were unable to have a drink. We then asked if there was any way we could get transport into the main area of Buccine to get something to eat/drink. We were advised where the bus stop was of which on checking, we saw there was only one bus which apparently should arrive at 2:27p.m. and not sure what time the bus would return back to the villa, or even if there would be a return bus. We then asked about taxis. The lady on reception with whom we spoke tried to ring a taxi company but due to the amount of people (I think), they were unable to provide a taxi to which I said what if less people went and brought provisions back? to which we were informed there were no taxis. I believe there was a festival in Buccine that particular weekend, hence no taxis being available, so, we were pretty much left without anything to drink and nothing to eat for quite a considerable length of time. I felt it was such a 'cold' reception/welcome. After further discussions as people were now feeling rather hungry, we asked the lady on reception if they could provide any food to which she advised the kitchen was closed but she would speak with another member of staff to see if anything could be done. She came back and said they would provide lunch with water!! and the cost of this would be 30 Euro per person. After having been advised how far everything was from the villa, I felt that the villa really was missing out on an opportunity here as due to the location, if one doesn't have a car, you really are stuck therefore, if it was me working here, I would make sure that each guest was offered a welcome drink on arrival and knowing that a lot of people would be arriving, I would make a point of asking if food might be required. I would also have a minibus to enable guests to be taken to the nearest town and maybe charge a 'nominal fee' for this service. On a positive note, the villa itself is beautiful, the surroundings are fabulous and the weather was just wonderful but unfortunately, staying in such surroun
