Bridge of Orchy Hotel

Gorgeous hotel, lovely staff, and in the perfect location. We loved our room (room 6). The room was spacious, we loved the tea, coffee, and cookies, and the bathroom was well equipped. Check in was easy, and we were able to secure dinner reservations.

Our garden room was just stunning, beautifully decorated, and with an amazing view over the river. It was spotless, as was the bathroom which had lovely wash products. Super comfy bed with cosy blankets. A real feel of luxury.

We stayed at Bridge of Orchy while walking the West Highland Way. Its a lovely old hotel with a new accommodation annexe in a lovely location. We had a nice large very comfortable room in the annexe with a large window and terrace with a great view. Large 6' bed. Good warm drying area in hallway with useful shelves. Fridge with mini bar. Good shower. Good breakfast and dinner in the restaurant. We saw deer by the river.

I experienced the absolute best customer service at the reception desk when receiving assistance from Simao. Not only did he answer all of my questions, but he connected me with multiple local resources, provided dining suggestions, and was pleasure to talk with.

We booked two nights at The Bridge of Orchy Hotel as a convenient stop between Glencoe and Loch Lomond. At the time, we hadn’t quite appreciated how significant the hotel’s location right on The West Highland Way long-distance footpath actually is. As a consequence, the hotel is a curious mix of 4-star luxury hotel and backpackers’ hostel. For our stay we received a warm and friendly welcome at reception and were directed to our room in one of the modern single storey buildings at the rear with very pleasant views across the River Orchy and towards the bridge. The room was very comfortable, spotlessly clean, with all the usual amenities, and with a very good shower room. It was a little bit worn in places, due to its high occupancy rate no doubt, but this did not detract from the quality of our stay in it. Unfortunately, our experience of our meals could not be so highly rated. On each occasion we were not offered a choice of the Dining Room and were directed to The Bistro, off the bar, which was constantly busy, with loud 1980s pop music playing (even at breakfast). Although there was a good choice at breakfast, my cooked Scottish Breakfast was only just warm, and certainly not hot. When we visited nearly everyone else was walking the West Highland Way and therefore only staying one night. Whether on their own or in groups, everyone seemed focused solely on their own journey and the day ahead. Breakfast therefore was completed promptly and the Reception area became congested, not only with residents checking out but also by piles of backpacks, luggage and packed lunches. I appreciate that the hotel needs to focus on this relentless conveyor belt-like number of walkers, which is clearly the main source of business, but it shouldn’t be to the detriment of those not engaged in a walking holiday. I am sure that to those walking the West Highland Way, The Bridge of Orchy Hotel represents an oasis on a tiring journey, but to the ordinary traveller it doesn’t quite hit the right note. In our experience, while our room was very comfortable with no negative aspects, the dining experiences were less relaxing. For the price we paid we had expected more finesse from a 4-star hotel.

I stayed here during a trip on the WHW and found it to be an excellent place. There are limited options in the area available, and it was pricey, but the room and location were fantastic. Spacious room with excellent amenities and a good shower, which was ideal after a long day of walking. I also had food in the restaurant, which was great and the staff were very friendly and seemed to really enjoy working at the hotel. The highlight was the view of the mountains from my room, they were spectacular!
