The Castle of Brecon Hotel, Brecon, Powys - the Coaching Inn Group

Gorgeous hotel, recently decorated and such lovely rooms. Public spaces are fantastic, loads of comfy sofas and corners to sit in. Fabulous dining room. Great staff, really friendly and efficient. We will definitely stay again and recommend to friends and family.

Above Average Impressive: Location: Brilliant Commanding Location with terrific views of The Beacons Venue: Fabulous Building, refurbished to a very high standard. Fixtures, Fittings and Decor in the rooms and communal areas follow suit. The Dining Room is spectacular with an amazing collection of wall hangings and views of the Beacons. Food: We only had Breakfast but it was top notch. Dinner menu looked v tempting but we had to meet friends elsewhere. Service & Ambience: Bang On. From the Reception Desk, to the Bar staff, to the Dining Room staff and the General Manager, this was unaffected service with a smile and a sense of humour. I took my daughter and daughter-in-law to The Castle Hotel in Brecon for afternoon tea today. We had pre booked and I had asked if I could use a 25% off voucher and was told yes I could. The actual food was quite nice, a selection of sandwiches, a scone with jam and cream and some little sweet desserts. We had a pot of tea each and opted for some Prosecco. We all thought more savoury options and less sweet would be better. Anyway, we couldn’t finish all of the cakes so asked for them to be boxed up to take home. We had to sign a disclaimer to say we wouldn’t sue if we experienced food poisoning. I gave the waitress the voucher, she told us we couldn’t use the voucher. I explained what we’d been told. She told us that the till would not allow her to add the offer. I’m not too technically minded but even I know there is an override button on tills. I stood my ground and insisted that they take some money of the final bill as we had clarified the offer at the time of the booking. Finally the waiter brought us the cakes to take home. They were literally smashed up together in cling film shoved a bag. Such a disappointment. The Castle if fine for a drink in a nice environment but I won’t be going back there for food. They need to spend more time on their customer service too.

Outstanding is not a word I use often… but truly we had an unforgettable time at this lovely hotel … the bedroom was beautiful… en suite was so clean…dining room and public areas have been refurbished to the highest standards… the restaurant is to behold … and a mention to the reception lady Michelle … we couldn’t get a taxi to the cathedral as everyone was booked .. so she took us in her own car !!!! I would highly recommend this hotel and all its staff we had a great weekend and we will certainly come again.. thank you castle of Brecon people

We stayed in Brecon Beacons for two nights. The hotel is clean and the food is great. The hotel is on a hill as like most places in Brecon Beacons, it is hilly. The room we stayed in was clean had decent wheelchair access and had a wet room. There is a car park but small. The hotel is a short drive from the Brecon Beacons visitor centre.

Food was not good at all . Sunday dinner was so cold couldn’t been eaten.They did take it off the bill. Cod and chips just warm but did eat it . Onion rings to cold to eat . Cheese cake was rock hard could not be eaten all 3 of us tried cheese cake was just horrendous. Had 2 coffees i think they thought asked for cold coffee. All in all food was just not good .
