We stayed there with the Via Gallica rally on the way to Angouleme and it was a marvelous tay. The staf organised a private parking in the square in front of the hotel. All the guests were happy with the service and food.

Very nice hotel, and the luxury room we booked was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly, but (in my opinion) mislead us! We invested in a luxury room and were looking forward to our stay in the hotel inlcuding the advertised excellent breakfast and an enjoyable evening meal. When we arrived, however, we were told we couldn't book a table in the restaurant that evening. Very, very disappointing! Why hadn't the hotel asked us if we wanted a table in the restaurant when we booked. We were told rain was forecast for the evening, which meant that the outside part of the restaurant would not open that evening. It did not rain that evening, and it was obvious that with only two front-of-house staff in the restaurant, the real reason bookings were unavailable was because it was understaffed. The breakfast didn't live up to expectations either unfortunately.

We had a fabulous stay. Everything was spot on. So comfortable and clean and friendly. Only one quibble: no towels provided at the swimming pool.

Traditional stylish hotel with great staff
One of the declining number of traditional 3/4 star village/small town hotels that are being replaced by the bland massive chains
The staff were brilliant, especially Head Waitor Luc who was charming, interesting and very helpful. The village with its castle is very run down with a large derelict hospital, numerous closed hotels and empty shops, but still worth a visit as a stop over.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE
Appalling. Notified as disabled.Access is either via stairs or by exiting hotel and walkinG up the road. Relegated to an annexe, bed to high, had to lift my wife into bed. Menu limted and disgusting. Stayed 2 out of 6 nights . Left refusing to pay.

many imperfections in this small hotel. the website is not reflecting the reality of the hotel. when you book though booking com the rooms comfort are 3 starred ranked and not at all 4 stars as booking would mention. I did not like the menu and the tomato burrata is a real horrible meal with only 3 small tomatoes... the pool is ok but faslty crowded and even the staff is swimming next to you. this not acceptable !

We had a great time at this property. It is a lovely old building with beautiful inner courtyards and an excellent restaurant. There is an outdoor pool which my husband took advantage of and the hotel is located next to a spa. Unfortunately the spa is closed at the moment for renovations with no date given for reopening. The bedroom was well decorated and the bed extremely comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Bourbon L’Archambault is an interesting historical town and well worth a visit. We would gladly return to this hotel for further explorations.

We found this hotel by chance and what a lovely place. It is attached to a thermal spa where you can take a “cure “ but we just stayed one night. Full of history, there are various sizes of rooms. We had a small room overlooking the courtyard which was very comfortable and clean. There was a nice bar and sitting room in the public areas. Free parking outside. Dinner was very good. Not an enormous menu but good choice. Breakfast was extra and was mostly bread based with meat or cheese, cereals and fruit. The owners were very welcoming and spoke English. We went for a walk around the town which was interesting with a tower, castle and lots of interesting little shops. This could be a good place to stay if you are thinking of visiting the Auvergne region.

Nous avons séjourné une nuit en demi-pension. Dîner du soir décevant, une seule entrée, un seul plat et un seul dessert de proposé!!. petit déjeuner de mauvaise qualité. Le pain était de la veille et peu de choix avec peu de réassort. Pour un 4 étoiles, on s’attendait à mieux. Notre chambre était jolie, mais ca sentait le fioul à l’intérieur. Il y avait des toiles d’araignée au plafond et nous en avons retrouvé une dans le lit en pleine nuit! Enfin accueil expédiée et aucune attention dans la chambre à notre arrivée.
