The Claremont Inn

My friend hired the function room for a birthday party. Turned up at the time it was booked for yet the venue wasn’t emptied. Half an hour in Staff still has guests in the venue watching the football although the place had been hired. Control freak staff spending 5 minutes checking real IDs bending them and and scratching them causing buying drinks to be a drag. Creepy lady with blonde hair staring through the glass of the door to the outside area while people were trying to enjoy themselves. After wasting half an hour keeping other guests in and watching football, they also made all of the party guests leave because of two boys. They told them everyone has to leave unless they get out, so they both left yet the rude blonde lady still decided to remove everyone. Not the place to hire, Made everyone’s nights awful and they just want money.

Can’t emphasise enough the level of customer care, we felt listened to, cared for and the top of the pile when it came to putting the customer first. Just to be aware that access to the room is by an external stair case. All completely safe but might be an issue for accessibility needs.

We stayed in the family room. First impressions based on the outside of the building were not good. It needs repainting and tidying up. Once we got to our room things improved. Room was very clean, bathroom was spotless, beds are clean and very comfortable and cosy. Room size was good. Staff are very friendly and helpful if needed.

Amazing find. Clean room, comfy with all the things you'd expect. A little expensive considering no breakfast and no parking but we knew this before we went. We were limited to options as not much accommodation in the local area. The cleaner did walk in on us sleeping at 10.01 but checkout was at 10 so it was our fault for oversleeping after a heavy night out. We parked in the road behind on street parking. Access to the room is down the side of the pub up a metal stair case but we felt safe and it was well maintained, just a little treacherous in heavy rain. There was live music in the pub but it finished by 11 so no issues with noise although when getting ready it did come through the floor quite loud so if you want an early night, check what events are going on. I would stay again if I am back in the area.

THE WORST HOTEL I HAVE STAYED IN IN MY LIFE The Claremont is situated in a back street. behind a laundrette. There was a large store 75m away which was a food bank. Access to the rooms which were on the 1st floor was via an external iron fire escape. When I asked about breakfast was told 'we don't do breakfast but there are cafes in town which do' No housekeeping was done. Bins not emptied or beds made on our return. Originally booked for 12 nights, paid for 7 on arrival and left after 2. Because we left early, they removed my booking entirely from the booking website so I couldn't report it.
