Chateau des Faugs

The chateau was a great surprise for us. It was further from the motorway than we thought but that was the only bad surprise! The property is amazing and the peace and views from the terrace were amazing! The host was terrific and even though it was a Monday, in France and the beginning of September, when all the restaurants are closed or are shuttered up for their holidays, he managed to bring us a meal of baguette and a great selection of cheeses to eat on the terrace with a great bottle of the local wine. The host left around 8 pm and said that when we went to bed to just close the doors after us! He left us with a hotel full of antiques and trusted us. Amazing Gentleman. Would recommend for anybody who wants peace, history and great views.

We stayed 5 nights at Le Chateau des Faugs and from arrival to departure, it has been the most unbelievable experience. The most striking is that although you are coming as a guest, the experience is similar to visiting a friend or a family member. We were welcomed by a group of extremely friendly young people, ho helped us settled and gave us a tour of the property, as well as a lot of information about the activities we could do in the area. Our suite was spectacular - I assume all rooms are spectacular! We felt that we were truly back in 1890, with a large room, old furniture, decorations, paintings, statues, and a myriad of small objects reminding us of the past. Our suite was on the first floor, with view on the back of the castle (view on a water pond and the forest (very relaxing when one wakes up), with a large room (one double bed and a princess bed!), a "smaller" room with two beds and a very large bathroom with both shower and bath. The breakfast was so good and served everyday in a different room of the castle! We spent some time exploring the various rooms and learning about the D'Indy family, simply awesome! There is also a very nice swimming pool and a tennis court. We had a few chats with Christophe and his wife Isabelle, super friendly and welcoming! Le Chateau des Faugs has been the highlight of our stay in Europe this year! If you get a chance, go there!

Amazing chateau in the northern part of the Ardeche! We used it to spent our first night. Very friendly staff and owner. the rooms are big and comfortable. Guest respect the privacy of each other. Nice pool OK breakfast. Next time we stay one day longer. It worh to travel 20 min from A7 when you do a stop over.!

Agréable pause sur la route des vacances entre Tarantaise et Var. Le château est impressionnant L'arrivée à travers la forêt est magique La vue sur les montagnes vertes est grandiose Le propriétaire est accueillant Et la piscine est agréable ! Certes, - la suite n'en est pas une (deux chambres communicantes avec une minuscule salle de douche) - le petit déjeuner est quelconque - la literie standard - les tarifs paraissent très très élevés Mais combien cela vaut-il une nuit au château des Faugs ? - premier des châteaux de la Loire (le mont Gerbier-de-Jonc est seulement à quelques dizaines de kilomètres !) - dernière demeure dessinée par Violet le duc avant sa mort - maison de famille du Mendelssohn francais (Vincent d'Indy) dont l'âme rôde, souvenir fragile et suranné Une belle pause. Vraiment.

Une belle découverte riche en histoire. Cadre magnifique et accueil extra. Le propriétaire est extrêmement convivial et aime vous expliquer l’histoire de sa demeure. N’hésitez pas c’est un site très appréciable et tout le monde est à vos petits soins.
