Sunset Beach Holiday Park

Enjoyed our peaceful and relaxing two night stay in a new 2 x 2 chalet. It was very clean and everything we needed was provided, except there were no towel rails and a tiny milk for 2 couples was not enough. Just down the road is a IGA, chemist, news agency and a bottle shop but it would have been great to have a bakery on site. The smell of freshly baked bread in the morning would have been amazing to wake up to and with the sound of the waves in the background. The best location we have stayed in Geraldton. Check in and check out was very easy and we would stay again.

I walked in on a weekday expecting at least a decent place to sleep for a few nights—for a few hundred dollars a night, that shouldn’t be too much to ask, right? Wrong. What I got instead was an absolute joke of a room that looked NOTHING like the dodgy, deceptive photos they use to trick people into booking. The room itself was tiny, barely enough space to move without bumping into furniture. It felt more like a cramped storage closet than a hotel room. And the worst part? It was absolutely filthy. I found spiders in the corners, ants crawling across the floor, and dust piling up like the place hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. The level of neglect was disgusting. The bathroom was a nightmare. The moment I stepped in, I was hit with a strong, musty stench—a mix of dampness, mildew, and something else I don’t even want to think about. The sink and shower were covered in rust stains, and honestly, I didn’t even feel comfortable using them. At this price point, the least they could do is provide a bathroom that doesn’t look and smell like it’s been left to rot. And then there was the bed. What a joke. I literally didn’t fit—my ankles stuck out over the edge, and the mattress was so uncomfortable I might as well have slept on the floor. I barely got any rest, constantly tossing and turning, wondering how a place charging this much could get away with offering such a miserable experience. For this price, I expected comfort and cleanliness. Instead, I got a claustrophobic, dirty, bug-infested dump. Save yourself the frustration and book literally anywhere else.

We stayed at this park earlier in the week on a powered site and the second night we were there our Engel freezer was stolen from the back of our vehicle by cockroaches who prowl around in the dark and steal things that do not belong to them. We were not warned by the Park staff when we checked in that theft and security was an issue or we would not have stayed there and we will definitely not be staying again.

Stayed in a powered caravan site for 4 nights in July 2024 while in Geraldton for a sporting event. Park is located a little bit North of town, right on the beach. We had a large grassed site with plenty of room. Amenities are dated but clean. Walk path through to river mouth and grassy park. Raised platform to watch the sunsets. Unfortunately, our neighbours had their Engel fridge stolen overnight but the park management does advise you to keep your valuables locked up.

Spent five nights here in our camper. It is a busy place with a great beachside location some 10-15 minutes north of the city. The sites are of a good size so it is not too crowded even when busy. It has excellent amenities with very good hot water.

We really enjoyed our relaxing stay at Sunset Beach Holiday Park. The booking and check in were a breeze and our cabin had everything we required. It was so quiet and peaceful with lovely beds-best sleep ever! It was an easy walk into town where we enjoyed the Shoreleave festival, interesting museum, ANZAC day parade, art exhibitions and great food. Highly recommended.
