We are just steps away from the vibrant Black Mountain Downtown Historic District, famous for its shops, restaurants, breweries and music venues. This charming one bedroom suite is on the main level of the building. The entire town of Black Mountain is walkable, making this the perfect home base for your mountain adventure! This house is over 100 years old and presents itself as such.Black Mountain Lodge has five units, each with a separate entrance. Unit 5 is a SMALL efficiency apartment with a DOUBLE BED (this means bedroom and kitchen are in the same room, with a small adjoining bathroom) with its entrance located on the far right side of the front porch. There are steps that lead up to the front porch. This cheerful 189 sq ft apartment has everything you need for cooking, dining, relaxing and sleeping all in one room. There is also a smart tv you can use to log into your streaming subscriptions. The separate bathroom is surprisingly roomy and bright. There is 1 bed for sleeping up to 2 guests. Due to fire zoning regulations we cannot allow cots or air mattresses on the floor. This home is over 100 years old and sits among large, old trees. Unfortunately due to this setting, insects will often make their way into the home. This is a non smoking property.We welcome pets, and if you bring one please be considerate of other groups in the building. Please no dogs that bark if you are away. Dogs must be in a crate if left alone. Keep dogs on a leash at all times.Please note that we do not have a front desk or concierge service. Staying with us will require some “self sufficiency”. You can self check in any time after 4pm and self check out any time before 10am on your day of departure. We are available during reasonable hours to address any questions or concerns, but please note that we are not a corporation and don’t have 24 hour staff. This is a very old house with gas furnaces for heat and window units for air conditioning. You may hear your neighbors. But we do ask that all guests be respectful of one another and that guests with pets, not bring barking dogs that will bother others in the house. Our address is visible for you to map prior to your booking so you can verify the location. Unfortunately we can’t offer luggage storage. Horace was a “small house designer” who was part of the faculty at Black Mountain College in the early 1940s where he taught design and construction. After his career at the college, Mac designed homes throughout Black Mountain over the course of the next two decades. This home was built in 1947 and recently renovated with careful intention to keep the spirit of the home’s design intact.Though quirky in style, the home is highly functional for all aspects of living, including a kitchen/dining area; a living room overlooking the backyard; a master bedroom with an adjoining half-bathroom; and an additional room which can be utilized as a workspace, studio, or additional bedroom. The house has a new front and back porch, which are ideal spaces to enjoy the serene environment the home is enveloped by.You will enjoy access to the entire home during your stay. For your convenience, the house is set up for contactless self check-in with a lock box.Grab your morning coffee and walk outside to the lake, where you can enjoy the beautiful half-mile trail. In the evenings after 7:30pm, the nearby golf course cart path is available to the public for an after-dinner stroll to see the stars.Have a large group and need more room? Our sister location, The Carriage House, can sleep up to 4 (a well designed studio with a queen bed, couch, and room for air mattress) and is situated next door to the Mac house, sharing all the perks of its location. Located just two minutes from downtown Black Mountain, and twenty from downtown Asheville, this cottage is convenient to all the amazing things these two towns have to offer, but is also wonderful for rest and relaxation.Rosso Veranda features a sweet porch with a view of the mountains. Four rockers and bistro table make this a perfect spot for your morning coffee, or taking in the sunset. Our home is clean and comfortable. Both bedrooms have queen sized beds.The kitchen is fully-equipped with a microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, pots, pans, and dishes. Guests are invited to wash a load of laundry if they’d like- washer, dryer and laundry detergent are provided.
